Abstract
396,184. Endless-belt conveyers. SUTCLIFFE, Ltd., R., Universal Works, and SHEPPARD, J., Dyehouse, Benton Hill, both in Horbury, near Wakefield, Yorkshire. May 5, 1932, No. 12934.. [Class 78 (i).] The outer edges of the belt are guided and supported by flat inclined longitudinal plates in order to give a trough-like form to the upper run throughout its length, and the guides may overhang the edges of the belt to ensure central loading and to prevent spillage. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2. the guides are formed by inclined angle irons 2 secured to brackets 7 provided with headed studs 5 which rest detachably in slots in channel shaped standards 4. The conveyer framework is sectional, each standard supporting the adjacent ends of two angle irons 2. The brackets 7 rest also on plates 7x on the standards. Side shields 11x for the lower run are secured to the angle 2 and extend between the standards. The central part of the belt may rest on straight rollers 3 or on troughing rollers. The idler rollers 8 for the lower run are carried on end bearing plates 10 which are slotted to rest detachably on the bars 9 of the standards 4. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, each conveyer section is secured at one end to a braced standard 4, 9. and is provided at the other end with a slotted, extension plate 12 which rests detachably on a stud 13 on the next standard. The side shields 11x for the lower run are secured at one end to the standard 4 and are supported at intervals from the angles 2 by brackets 15. One pair of brackets 15 is hooked or slotted at the lower end to form bearings for the idler roller 8. A trough-shaped member 14 is secured to the angles 2 at one end and extends beneath the junction of two sections. Small angle-plates or bars 2a, Fig. 4, may be secured on the angle irons 2 overhanging the belt to aid in preventing spillage.
