Abstract
395,272. Valves. BRITISH CONTINENTAL MOTORS, Ltd., 150, St. Vincent Street, Glasgow. Jan. 21, 1933, No. 2014. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1932. [Class 7 (vi).] In a sleeve-valve engine having the cylinder head 'formed without a depending portion for masking the sleeve ports, the sleeve is given a combined reciprocating and oscillating movement and is provided with a plurality of exhaust ports 33, 33<1> which co-operate successively with the cylinder exhaust port 31, the main sleeve exhaust port 33 being masked by the piston at the end of the exhaust and beginning of the inlet stroke, exhaust and scavenging then continuing through the port 33<1>. The cylinder exhaust port 31 is higher than the inlet port 30. In modifications, the top of the sleeve valve enters an annular recess in the cylinder head.
