Abstract

388,971. Cases for cigarettes &c. made from special blanks. PIORNIK, L., 5, Tufnell Park Road, and TUCKER, W., 17, Grafton Road, both in Holloway, London. May 28, 1932, No. 15204. [Class 18.] A case or carton for small articles such as cigarettes, cigars, or matches, comprises inner and outer cases each made from separate blanks or combined in one blank, the outer casing having a lid or half lid with a strip or strips on the inner case connected thereto so that movement of the inner case opens or closes the lids. The outer casing is formed from a blank of the form shown in Fig. 6 and has back and front walls 1, 2, side walls 3, 4, a flap 5 -and a lid 6. It may also have a bottom. The inner case formed from a blank of the form shown in Fig. 7 has back and front walls 9, 8, side walls 10, 11, bottom 12, and flaps 13 for fastening to the lid 6 of the outer blank. A strip 14 is doubled and passed through the slits 2, 16 of the cases and the ends are then passed outwardly through the slits 15, 17 and secured to the outer wall of the inner case, thus connecting the two cases together and providing actuating means for the inner case. In modified constructions the outer case has half lids, either of equal width or one being longer than and overlapping the other. A blank is also shown for making the whole carton from a single piece of material. The front wall of the outer case may have two slots with a recessed portion in between to receive the central portion of the strip 14 ; or the slots and strips may be dispensed with and the inner case moved upwards by pressure from beneath.
