Abstract

388,018. Cooling cylinders. ELLOR, J. E., Grandell, South Drive, Chain Lane, Mickleover, Derbyshire. July 9, 1931, No. 19749. [Class 7 (ii).] Cooling-water flows from the cylinder jackets to a tank c through pipes f, f having flattened orifices which project the water in a shallow stream over or under plates f<1>, f<1> which may be comprised by the roof of the tank. The separated steam passes, either directly to a condenser d, or through a steam dome and pipe to a separate condenser ; in a non-boiling cooling system the water passes to a radiator and in both cases the water finally is returned by a pump to the jackets. The orifices may be restricted in area to increase the circulation temperature of the water.
