Abstract
385,285. Brazing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Palmer, R. ; 55, Balltown Road, Niskayuna, New York, U.S.A.) March 17, 1931, No. 8237. Convention date, March 20, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 83 (iv).] Brazing is effected by placing brazing metal, such as copper, adjacent the objects to be brazed, and heating in an inert or reducing atmosphere or in a vacuum by means of induced current. The objects 5, 6 with an intermediate layer of copper 7 are placed on a refractory plate 4 on a refractory pedestal 3 enclosed in a glass or vitreous receptacle 1 evacuated by a pump or supplied with hydrogen through the tip 10. Heating is effected by a movable coreless coil 8 mounted in insulating supports 9 and connected to a source of alternating current having a frequency in the neighbourhood of 300,000 cycles. A stationary coil 8 may be mounted on a hollow refractory cylinder 12, Fig. 3, arranged inside a receptacle 15.
