Abstract
371,208. Steam turbines. AKT.-GES. DER MASCHINENFABRIKEN ESCHER WYSS ET CIE, 19, Hardturmstrasse, Z³rich, Switzerland. June 18, 1931, No. 17706. Convention date, July 8, 1930. [Class 110 (iii).] A space 7 between a turbine casing 5 and the stator 4 filled with stagnant driving fluid entering by a gap 8 is traversed by cooling pipes 9 which may be ribbed and through which intermediately superheated steam is passed. The nozzle chamber 6 and the driving fluid supply pipe are similarly jacketed. A sheathing 15 may be provided on the outside of the stator and nozzle chamber to form an inner steam jacket 17 for the stator walls. The stator may be in two parts each being built up of several flanged members 11 of the cross section shown in Fig. 3. Exhaust steam may be passed through the cooling pipes 9 and then admitted to an intermediate stage of another turbine, which is driven by the exhaust steam.
