Abstract
A protective paper for agricultural or horticultural use, capable of rotting when buried in the soil, contains added fertilizer, or fertilizer and insecticide, and also one or more added animal or vegetable oils or waxes so that the paper is capable of long exposure on wet soil or to rain without becoming defibred or pulped. The paper may be impregnated with oil such as fish oil or coated with wax such as stearin and it may be coated or impregnated with fertilizer or fertilizer and insecticide. A compound sheet may be formed having the fertilizer or fertilizer and insecticide placed between adjacent papers. In such compound sheets, two or more papers may have waxed surfaces on the outside, such surfaces being incised or perforated to allow water to penetrate to the fertilizer and carry it into the soil. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a form wherein paper semi-parchmentized with sulphuric acid or zinc chloride is used. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
