Abstract

379,513. Controlling and tensioning yarn during unwinding from stationary spools. BRUGGER & CO., TEXTILMASCHINENFABRIK, Horgen, Switzerland. Sept. 1, 1931, No. 24563. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1930. [Class 120 (ii).] An arrangement for regulating the unwinding of yarn from a stationary spool 14 comprises a dish-shaped deflecting member 15 which fits over the top of the spool and is provided with a curved lip terminating in a polished non- cutting guiding edge 16 with which the yarn only makes point contact. The member 15 may be turned from a solid piece of metal or drawn from sheet metal. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also tension regulating means for the yarn 8 unwinding from the spool 14, the yarn passing between yokes 4 on a member 3 secured to a support 1, and fingers 5 on a member 6 pivoted at 9 to the support 1. The ends of the fingers 5 have grooves 7 for guiding the yarn. Adjustably mounted on the member 6 by means of a stud 11 is a wire arm 12 carrying a roll 13 for guiding the yarn so that as the tension on the yarn increases the arm 12 is depressed and the member 6 moved so that fewer friction elements engage the yarn, and vice versa. A torsion spring mounted on the pivot 9 normally urges the member 6 into a position wherein all the friction elements engage with the yarn. It also comprises a device for use when unwinding cross wound supply bobbins comprising a smooth dished supporting disc on which the bobbin rests with its lower edges contacting with the disc. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
