Abstract
In the process for treating stored grain, flour plants, or fruits with a mixture of an alkylene oxide and an inflammability-reducing gas as described in the parent Specification, the gas, such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen or a mixture thereof, is added in a proportion equal to or less than that of the alkylene oxide. A mixture containing 10 per cent of the gas is stated to be efficient and to be non-inflammable when diluted with air on release from the container in which it is stored under pressure.ALSO:Relates to mixtures of an alkylene oxide and an inflammability-reducing gas for fumigation against insects, germs, and other pests as described in the parent Specification, and consists in using the gas, such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen or a mixture thereof in quantity equal to or less than that of the alkylene oxide. A mixture containing 10 per cent of the gas is stated to be efficient and to be non-inflammable when diluted with air on release from the container in which it is stored under pressure.
