Abstract

Iron or steel alloys which contain 0,01 to 4 per cent of boron and may contain up to 0,5 of carbon are cooled quickly or slowly from the casting temperature or in the case of reheating from 700-1300 DEG C. and then tempered at 200-1000 DEG C. When the alloy is quenched from 700-1300 DEG C., it may be subjected to a particularly slow cooling instead of tempering. The alloys may also contain up to 25 per cent of manganese, up to 10 of chromium, up to 8 of silicon, and up to 50 of nickel. Specification 375,793 is referred to.
