Abstract

363,235. Fire-extinguishers. NOR- 'rON, R., Westfield, Birchfield Road, Birmingham. Feb. 27, 1931, No. 6227. [Class 47 (ii).] In an extinguisher of the kind in which rotation of a rotary cock acts simultaneously to open a pressure generating capsule and a discharge passage to the nozzle, two capsules 9, 9a are arranged base to base in a tube 6 depending from the housing 2 of the cock 3. The cock has a cam groove 15 that co-operates with a plunger 10 to force the lower capsule against a piercer 7, and a deeper cam groove 15a which co-operates with a piercer 10a to open the upper capsule. The cock has two discharge passages 11 which can be brought to register successively with the delivery pipe 13. Rotation of the cock through an angle of 90" opens the lower capsule and brings one passage 11 into line with the pipe 13. Further rotation of the cock opens the upper capsule, and brings the second passage 11 into operative position.
