Abstract
366,785. Pistons; piston rings. JUNKERS, H., 21, Kaiserplatz, Dessau, Anhalt, Germany. March 27, 1931, No. 9369. Convention date, Feb. 18. [Class 122 (i).] In piston packing of the type in which an L-shaped split ring 4 is formed with an annular recess to accommodate an auxiliary split ring 5, an undivided packing ring 22 is used as a seating for the compound ring. The latter is retained by a cover-plate 10 having small seating surfaces 11, 12 to minimize conduction of heat. A number of these packing rings may be arranged in series on the piston or one such ring may be used in conjunction with rings of the usual type.
