357,841. S t u ffi n g-b o x substitutes. MAcDANIEL, C. B., 4, Milosa Velikay Ulica, Belgrade. Nov. 12, 1930, No. 34071. [Class 122 (v).] Comprises a split, spring-ring packing-device applicable where the space between the crosshead and cylinder head is limited. The running surface for the packing-rings 9 comprises a sleeve 6<1> with external rings 9 which in turn slides in a second sleeve 61, which may be directly connected to the cylinder or slide in another sleeve connected to the cylinder. The flange 7 on the sleeve 6<11> is secured to the cylinder by a flange 8. The connecting-rod is fitted with a sleeve 4<11> which carries the rings 9. The sleeves move telescopically and carry shoulders between which are mounted springs.
