Abstract
346,825. Switching systems for consuming devices. OSBORN, H. J., Haytor, Danbury, Essex, and WRIGHT, A., 28, Lingfield Avenue, Kingston - on - Thames. Jan. 16, 1930, No. 1600. [Class 38 (iv).] Heating elements 1, 2, 3, Fig. 1, are arranged in series across the mains, but upon closure of either thermostatically controlled contact 19 or 24, two elements are short-circuited, leaving the other element direct across the mains, whilst closure of both contacts connects the three elements in parallel. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates the method of control extended to the use of five elements in series. A thermostatic switch for effecting the control comprises a spindle 53, Fig. 3, turned by a bimetallic element 48, and provided at its end with sectors 58, 59 for bridging pairs of contacts 60, 61 and 63, 64, the pairs corresponding to the contacts 19, 24, Fig. 1. Specification 4066/08, [Class 38, Electricity, Regulating &c.], is referred to.
