Impeller blades.- A fan consisting of blades 17 formed integral with or secured to a central disc 10 has the disc diameter not less than 0.35 of the overall diameter, the sum of the blade widths w, Fig. 9, at any radius r between 1.6 # and 2.4 # of such radius, and the blade angle b, Fig. 6, between 15‹ and 45‹. The length R of a blade is preferably more than twice the greatest width Wm, Fig. 9, the number of blades greater than 15 and the spacing h, Fig. 6, not less than half the average width w. A metal sheet may be stamped out to form the blades and central disc, this being corrugated at its periphery, or separate blades may be secured by angular brackets 19, Fig. 3, or by integral angular tongues, to the disc 10, the other corners being riveted directly to another disc 11. The blades may be parallel or tapered, flat or shaped as in Fig. 6, and of constant or varying angle b. If curved the line c, joining the edges of blade, is 5 to 20 times as long as its maximum perpendicular distance from the blade.
