Abstract

Combustion-product plant. - In a two-stroke internal-combustion engine used as a generator of products of combustion, piston-controlled exhaust ports 11 are located so as to open early in the out-stroke of the piston 2 and are provided with a non-return valve 14 positioned directly on the cylinder wall and admitting the products to a receiver 13. As shown in Fig. 1, the valve 14 consists of a flexible metal strip carried by a ring 15. The cylinder 1 is provided with pistoncontrolled inlet ports 6, and the inlet conduit 5 may be provided with a check valve consisting of a thin metal strip 7<a> between a ring 9 and a member 8. In a modification, the ports 6, 11 are formed in a sleeve valve; in a further form, the inlet ports 6 are replaced by a port in the cylinder head provided with a mechanicallyactusted beat valve.
