Abstract

305,226. Voith, W., Voith, H., and Voith, H., (trading as Voith, J. M., [Firm of]), (Assignees of Voith, J. M., [Firm of]). Feb. 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Propelling.-Bladed wheels for propelling air craft and wherein the blades feather periodically about axes parallel to the axes of the wheel are provided with an eccentric rotary path carrying a pin with which co-operates a lever member on the axis of a blade. An eccentric cam path 6 has pins 8 over which slide slotted arms 7 secured to the axis 4 of blades 3. The ring centre 5 may be adjusted so as to alter the eccentricity and the feathering phase. In a modification, the eccentric path is similar and the blades are linked by coupling rods to small slotted members independent and pivotally secured to the driving-disc. In a further modification, the actuating-levers are provided with balance weights and the controlling-ring also has a balance weight. In another form, the levers and rods of one blade can be arranged to balance the levers and rods of another blade.
