Abstract

291,893. Wilks, R. T. March 15, 1927. Draining-channels; kerbs. - Roads are drained by conduits formed as kerbstones built up of sections arranged end to end, each section comprising a lower part 1 which receives the drainage water, and an upper part or cover 2 which has a horizontal portion 3 flush with the road surface and provided with drainage openings 5, and an integral vertical part which forms the kerb. The channels 1 are provided with inclined spigots fitting corresponding sockets in adjacent sections, and the covers 2 are provided with downward projections 6 fitting into the channels 1. Catchpits 10 for sand are provided at intervals, the conduits being recessed into opposite sides of a catchpit which is provided with a kerb cover portion 12 and a separate detachable cover 11. The conduits have openings 7 to key with the road material. The conduits and catchpits are preferably formed of concrete.
