Abstract
297,085. Voinchet, A. L. J., and Lerciu, A. A. Sept. 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Composition fuel.-Fine coal, charcoal, sawdust, granular or powdered cork &c. are mixed with kaolin, pipe clay or other clay or silicates of alumina or mixtures of substances reacting to form the silicates. Alkaline silicates or substances reacting to form them are added during or after the mixing and the mixture is compressed into blocks. A solution of a calcium or other alkaline earth metal salt, preferably calcium chloride, is then applied to render the blocks resistant to moisture. Acids such as hydrochloric, sulphuric, boric, phosphoric, formic, acetic, or oxalic, may be added to this solution to eliminate efflorescence at the surface of the blocks; glycerine or glucose may be substituted for the acid.
