Abstract

Carding-engines. - The main cylinder C is cleaned by a blast of air issuing through a narrow slot in a tube H extending across the cylinder and passing through the clothing on the cylinder, under a guard plate I extending up to the flats D. The blast is generated by a blower which may be driven from a pulley on the main cylinder shaft.
