Abstract
286,329. Sutcliffe, G. H. Oct. 28, 1926. Composite photographs.-A reflector mounted adjacent to or within the objective of a camera of ordinary construction is provided with apertures or transparent portions arranged in a regular geometrical pattern so that a transmitted and a rejected view may be photographed simultaneously, the two views being angularly disposed in relation to each other. One of the views may be a foreground or background, such as a stationary or moving picture, and the other objects or figures to be photographed in conjunction therewith. The reflector a, Fig. 3, of polished metal or silvered glass may be inclined at 45‹ to the axis of a camera located at c, and is provided with a pattern of apertures b. The edge h of the mirror and the edges of the apertures may be bevelled, and may be formed with teeth of geometrical shape for vignetting. The apertures b may be of circular, oval, rectangular, or triangular shape or may take the form of slits with parallel or inclined edges. The reflector may be mounted in a frame which is movable horizontally, vertically, or angularly in front of the camera, and masks or silhouettes may be employed between it and either view. The reflector may be flat or curved, and may be used in conjunction with other flat or curved mirrors or with auxiliary lenses. It may be mounted, as shown in Fig. 12, between the components 1, 3 of the camera objective in a casing 2 having a laterallydisposed lens component 6; or in a casing provided with auxiliary lenses and adapted for attachment to the front of the camera objective. Specification 100,082 is referred to.
