Abstract

285,645. Starley, W. A. Feb. 15, 1927. Strip and thin-plate springs.-Semi-elliptic or similar springs fixed at their ends to the frame x, and axle a of a vehicle consist of a strip or strips of steel shaped with a series of curves operative to close and open for the elastic action of the spring lengthwise. The undulations may consist of semi-circles joined by short straight lengths and may be of varying depth. Two or more strips may be arranged side by side, or above one another with the undulations opposite or interfitting but without touching. The springs may be fixed to elements adjustable lengthwise along the frame by screws.
