Abstract

273,803. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Samuelson, F. April 7, 1926. Feedwater, heating.-A feedheater is constructed with a plurality of compartments 1, 2, 3 built in one continuous length, and each compartment may comprise an outer sheet 4, 5, 6 secured to the adjacent casings. The water tubes 11 are continuous throughout the length and steam from independent sources is introduced into the separate compartments at such temperatures as to heat the feed as it passes through the heater progressively from inlet to outlet. Condensate from one compartment is led to the next colder compartment, and in the coldest compartment 3 it is caused to pass over the feed-water tubes by a baffle arrangement 25.
