Abstract

259,039. Low, F. E. Oct. 16, 1925. Tobacco pipes. - The outer surface of the mouth end of the bowl is formed with grooves b over which is fitted a flanged cap having perforations which, by turning the cap, may be brought into or out of register with the grooves, for the admission of air or for closing the bowl respectively. Instead of the grooves b shown, passages may be formed through the bowl, or radial recesses across the mouth of the bowl. A portion of the cap may be imperforate, so that this portion may be turned to the front of the pipe to prevent too free entry of air when the smoker is moving rapidly.
