Abstract
A sealed food grade capsule 3 contains alcohol 4. The capsule 3 holds the alcohol 4 without leakage or degradation of the alcohol 4. The capsule 3 can be situated inside a shell 6 of chewing gum or bubble gum. The capsule 3 may be made from beeswax.
Description
DESCRIPTION
ALCOHOLIC GUM
The invention meets a demand for alcoholic chewing gum and alcoholic bubble gum. It is thought impossible to create such gums because alcohol cannot be encapsulated in gum. This is because alcohol will permeate chewing/bubble gum and will not provide an effective capsule for the gum.
The invention solves the problem of encapsulating alcohol inside chewing gum or bubble gum by providing an effective interface between the alcohol and the gum, which cannot be breached by the alcohol.
The interface is a food-grade product that will mix with the gum when chewed, is virtually tasteless and does not impair the taste of the gum.
The shape we have adopted can be changed to any shape using the same principles. A typical example is shown.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows the mould we have used FIGURE 2 shows the interface applied to the mould FIGURE 3 shows the moulded interface removed from the mould FIGURE 4 shows the sealing ring used to seal the alcohol in the capsule FIGURE 5 shows the capsule sealing being applied FIGURE 6 shows the sealed capsule containing the alcohol FIGURE 7 shows the gum being moulded FIGURE 8 shows the gum sealing disc FIGURE 9 shows the capsule containing the alcohol being placed inside the gum. FIGURE 10 shows the finished product with the gum sealing disc in place. FIGURE 11 shows a section diagram.
The drawing Figure 1, shows a frozen cone mould 1 which is commonly used in the chocolate/confectionery industry.
Figure 2 shows the interface 2 on the mould 1. The interface is Beeswax. The Beeswax is melted at 60-70 degrees Celsius and the cone mould 1 is dipped in the hot wax 2 to form a wax shell 2. Alternatively the hot wax can be poured inside the cone mould to form the shell. A minimum shell thickness of approximately 1 mm is required to form an effective seal, as verified by scientific tests carried out on our behalf under cover of a signed NonDisclosure Confidentiality Agreement. Figure 3 shows the wax removed from the mould forming a wax shell 3 which is filled with alcohol 4. Figure 4 shows a hot edge melting ring 5 which is heated at 150-300 degrees Celsius and used to melt the edge of the wax shell 3 to enable a wax lid to form and provide an effective seal.Figure 5 shows hot wax 2 being deposited through the hot edge melting ring 5 to form the lid for the wax shell 3 sealing and completing the wax shell 3. Figure 6 shows the wax shell 3 which is now completely sealed with the alcohol 4 inside. Figure 7 shows warmed chewing gum/bubble gum 6 which has been moulded around a larger frozen cone mould 7 to form a gum shell. Figure 8 shows a disc of chewing/bubble gum 6 which will be used to seal the gum shell around the wax shell. Figure 9 shows the wax shell 3 containing the alcohol 4 being placed inside the gum shell 6. Figure 10 shows the gum lid which has been warmed and applied by pressing the edge of the gum disc onto the edge of the gum shell creating the sealed finished product. Figure 11 provides a section diagram.
