Abstract
A multiple-fold umbrella having an odd number of main ribs 1,2 and 3 has a main branch rib 13 extending from a runner, on the umbrella shaft, to a mid point along the first main rib 1. A supplementary rib 14 extends between a point close to the outer end of the branch rib to an inner end of the second main rib 2. Supplementary rib attaches to the branch rib by means of a hook feature 141. The branch rib 13 has a U-shaped cross section with the open side facing uppermost. The intention is that a user operating the umbrella will not harm themselves if the hand or fingers contact a branch rib since the more angular side of the branch ribs will be facing upwards away from the user. The umbrella may have 5 or 7 main ribs (figs 3 and 4). The hook 141 of the supplementary rib may attach to the branch rib through a ring (131 fig 5).
Description
* 2424183 TITLE: Umbrella Frame Having Secure Main Branch Rib
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an improvement of an umbrella frame, particularly to a frame having odd ribs, which includes a secure main branch rib for safe use.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
As shown in Figure 1, it shows a conventional three-folded umbrella including a first rib (1), a second rib (2), and a tail rib (3). A main branch rib (11) has its outer end connect with middle portion of the first rib (1). A first supplementary rib (12) is provided between the inner end of the second rib (2) and outer portion of the main branch rib (11). Due to the structure of the first supplementary rib (12), the main branch rib (11) must be provided with its U-shape open end downward for receiving the supplementary rib (12) when the frame is closed. It is to be found that the downward opening of the main branch rib (11) will hurt people's hand or fingers when he is pushing a runner upward to open the umbrella.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is to provide a secure umbrella frame, which includes an improved main branch rib with upward opening that overcomes the drawback of prior arts. Now, accompanying with the following drawings, the character of the present invention will be described here and after.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWiNGS
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a conventional three folded umbrella frame.
Figure 2 is a perspective view showing an umbrella frame having three ribs according to the present invention.
Figure 3 is a perspective view showing an umbrella frame having five ribs according to the present invention.
Figure 4 is a perspective view showing an umbrella frame having seven ribs according to the present invention.
Figure 5 is a perspective view showing another embodiment of an umbrella frame having three ribs according to the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Please refer to Figure 2, it shows an embodiment of the present invention having three ribs, which includes a first rib (1), a second rib (2), and a tail rib (3). The improvement of the present invention is to provide a main branch rib (13) having its U-shape opening upward. The main branch rib (13) has its outer end connect with a middle portion of the first rib (1). A first supplementary rib (14) is a rod and has its inner end to be a hook (141) to hook the outer portion of the main branch rib (13). Accordingly, when the umbrella is closed, the first supplementary rib (14) can be totally received in the first rib (1) without any disturbance.
Since the U-shape opening of the main branch rib (13) is upward, it will not hurt any user's hand or fingers even he touches the rib (13) when opening the umbrella. It is to be understood that the secure main branch rib can overcome the drawback of the prior arts.
Under the spirit as above mention, the present invention can be utilized in an umbrella frame, which includes odd ribs. Such as shown in Figure 3, it discloses an embodiment having five ribs. And in Figure 4, it shows an umbrella frame having seven ribs. Both of which have the main branch rib (13) with upward U-shape opening and the rod-shape supplementary rib (14) with inner hook (141).
Please refer to Figure 5, the present invention can have the main branch rib (13) provided with a ring (131) at outer portion for connecting with the hook (141) of the supplementary rib (14). It will be also claimed in this application, whatever any modified structure is made with the similar spirit under the present invention.
Claims (3)
- I CLAIM: 1. An umbrella frame having secure main branch rib including afirst rib, a second rib, and a tail rib, and the improvement is to provide a main branch rib having its U-shape opening upward and having its outer end connect with a middle portion of the first rib, a first supplementary rib being a rod and having its inner end to be a hook to hook the outer portion of the main branch rib.
- 2. An umbrella frame having secure main branch rib as claimed in claim 1, wherein the main branch rib is provided with a ring at outer portion for connecting with the hook of the supplementary rib.
- 3. An umbrella frame substantially as hereinbef ore described with reference to any of Figures 2 to 5 of the accompanying drawings.
