Abstract
An exercise device comprises a knee rest with foam pads on the underside of the plate, a weight stand with a threaded metal rod, a metal tube and a plate. Weights are fitted over the metal tube on top of the plate and the height of the knee rest adjusted by the treaded metal rod. A base board has a metal rod welded into the centre which fits into the metal tube and acts as a guide for the weight assembly.

THE CALF EXERCISER
This invention relates to a device for exercising the calf muscles called the CALFER.
When people want to build up or shape their calves they perform an exercise called calf raises. However the machines that are on the market for this exercise are all heavy duty for use in gymnasiums. There is nothing on the market for the home user. The reason for this is that they tend to use selectorised weights and have a seat attached making it a large and heavy piece of apparatus.
The Calfer overcomes these problems by not having a seat attached. It can be operated by sittir,g or or,y chair at home. It uses conventior,al weight discs that are placed on a weight stand between the users legs. The unique threaded section of the weight stand enables pin point height adjustment of the knee rest. This is not possible on other pieces of calf exercise apparatus as they use drilled holes instead through which a key pin is inserted. The Calfer can be dismantled into three pieces for easy storage.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to accompanying drawings.
Figures 1 shows the KNEE REST of the Calfer. It comprises of a flat metal plate (1) that has foam (2) attached to its underneath. In the middle of the plate (1) a hole is drilled, wide enough for the threaded metal rod (3) of the WEIGHT STAND to fit through. Over the hole a threaded bush (8) is welded on. This acts as a joiner between the weight stand and the knee rest.
Figure 2 shows the WEIGHT STANI). (3) is a solid threaded metal rod. It is welded onto a conventional one inch metal tube (4). The metal tube (4) is welded or,to a flat metal plate (51. This makes it into weight stood for receiving weight discs. This metal plate (5) also has a hole drilled in the middle of it This is to incorporate the upright guide (10) of the baseboard (7).
Figure 3 shows the BASEBOARD. (7) is a metal plate the same size as (1). In the middle of (7) is welded an upright guide (10). This is a solid metal rod that is narrower than (4) so it can fit inside it. On top of the metal plate (7) is a piece of wood (6) the same size. This acts as a footrest.
Figure 4 shows a three dimensional view of the Calfer fitted together.
-
Figure 5 shows a front view of the Calfer. It demonstrates how it would be used.
Figure 6 shows a front view of the Calfer fitted together. It also shows an enlargement of the threaded bush (8). The bush is basically a nut that is of a size that enables it to screw onto the solid metal rod (3).
Figure 7 shows how the upright guide (10) of the baseboard fits inside the weight s,ar,d. This stops it from swGyir,g when it is going up and down, in the calf raise exercise.
Figure 8 shows a transparent side view of the Calfer. It shows the upright guide 10! inside the weight stand. During the calf raise exercise when the weight stand goes up and down it does so on the upright guide.
Figure 9 shows a side view of the Calfer with weight discs (9) on it. Before spinning the knee rest onto the weight stand, place the weights that you wish to lift onto it. The weight discs are the conventional size that can be purchased at any exercise equipment retailers.
Figure 10 shows a side view of the starting position of the calf raise exercise.
The user, inds ar,y sea,. Fle puts his feet or, the baseboard (6). Ide then, spir,s the knee rest (1 & 2) onto the threaded rod (3) and down onto his knees.
Figure 11 shows a side view of the finishing position of the calf raise exercise.
The user presses his foot down on the baseboard!6) extending his calves and lifting his knees upwards. This lifts the knee rest. Because the knee rest is attached to the weight stand, this is lifted aswell. Because there are weights on the weights stand your calves are exercised and strengthened.
Claims (1)
