Abstract

A protective cover for sanitary ware such as a toilet, basin or bath is secured in position and locked to prevent theft, damage or misuse of the sanitary ware. Preferably the cover is held in place by a hook that may be attached to the end of a metal chain or rod which is secured to the underside of a sink or bath outlet or the U-bend of a toilet. The chain or rod is pulled through the protective cover and secured by a padlock through the chain or various holes in the rod to prevent the cover from being removed. Preferably the cover encompasses the taps as well as the bath or sink.

PROTECTION OF SANITARYWARE DURING BUILDING WORK
A device that protects sanitaware from misuse, damage and the* during building work.
Background
All sanitaryware is vulnerable whilst building work is undertaken: 1. Toilets are used when they are not connected; 2. Sinks are used by building trades for cleaning tools and equipment which often causes damage; 3. The* of taps, sinks and baths; 4. Inappropriate unfixing of sanitaryware by trades other than a plumber; 5. Chips, scratches and blockages.
These problems are solved by these inventions which cover the sanitaryware and have the advantage of being reuseable.
Protection of sinks - Drawing see figure 1 A protective cover is made from wood or plastic to cover the whole sink and taps.
It is secured by fixing a chain to the waste outlet with a metal hook. The hook grips the underside of the sink waste outlet. The chain is then pulled through the protective cover until tight when it is padlocked in position. The chain and hook is made out of stainless steel. The cover can be removed by undoing the padlock, allowing the chain to slip through the cover, and the hook can be removed from the sink waste.
protection of toilets - Drawing see figure 2 A protective cover is made from wood or plastic to cover the whole of the toilet opening. It is secured via a solid stainless steel hooked metal rod. The rod hook fixes under the U-bend of the toilet and through the protective cover where it is padlocked into position, preventing the removal of the cover.
Protection of baths - Drawing see figure 3 A protective cover is made from wood or plastic to cover the whole bath and taps. It is secured by fixing a stainless steel hooked metal rod into the bath waste outlet and through the protective cover, being locked in position via a padlock through a hole in the rod.

Claims (1)

  1. 5:LALS Prevention of theft or damage to sanitaryware while a property is
under construction or refurbishment by means of a cover and a hook and padlock system which secures the cover in position.
No system is currently on the market which can be easily secured and reused.
The drawings illustrate how the cover is secured in place via a hook/chain and padlock.
