Abstract

A lock includes a body 10 having a shackle 20 connected to a top thereof and a core 30 is received in a chamber in a bottom of the body. A protection plate 121 is connected to the bottom of the body and a through hole 1211 is defined through the protection plate. A flange 1212 extends inward from an inner periphery of the through hole. The protection plate 121 covers a part of a periphery of a bottom of the core 30 in the chamber. A disk 122 is rotatably engaged with the through hole and supported on the flange 1212. The disk has a slot 1221 which is in communication with the key hole of the core. The disk 122 covers the rest part of the periphery of the bottom of the core. A first end of the shackle 20 is biased by a spring 132. A first pin 141 extends in a hole 14 of the body 10 and engages with the shackle 20. A second pin 131 engages a positioning recess 1231 of the protection plate 121. Two rails 120 may be used to slidingly connect the protection plate 121 to the body 10.

Description

24 1 0293 kOCK HAVING PROTECTION DEVICE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a lock having a protection plate at a bottom of the body of the lock so as to protect the core from being damaged.
BACKGROUND OF TIIE INVENTION
A conventional lock 5 is disclosed in Figs. 4 and 5, and generally includes a body 52 having two recesses 521, 5210 defined in a top thereof and a shackle 51 has two ends Hereof respectively inserted in He two recesses 521. One of the two ends of the shackle 51 can be disengaged from the recess 5210 to unlock the lock. A core 53 is received in a bottom of the body 52 and a key hole is defined in the core 53. When a correct key is used to insert into the key hole and turned, the lock is unlocked by a proper mechanism which is not shown. Nevertheless, the core 53 can be easily accessible from the bottom of the body 52 so that a person may use a tool to damage the core 53 to unlock the lock within a short of period of time.
The present invention intends to provide a lock that has a protection device connected to the bottom of the body so as to hide the core which cannot be accessible from outside of the lock and thereby minimizing the possibility of damage to the core from outside of He lock.
SUMMARY OF THE lNVEN}lON
The present invention relates to a lock which comprises a body having two recesses defined in a top thereof so as to receive two ends of a shackle. A core including a key hole is received in a chamber detained in a bottom of the body. A protection plate is connected to the bottom of the body and a through hole is defined through the protection plate and a flange emends inward from an inner periphery of the Trough hole. The protection plate covers a part of a periphery of a bottom of the core in the chamber. A disk is rotatably engaged win the through hole and supported on the flange. The disk has a slot which is in communication with Me key hole of the core. The disk covers the rest part of the periphery of the bottom of We core. A spring is received in the one of the recesses and biased between Me first end of the shackle and an inside of the first recess. first pin extends in a hole defined in a surface of the body and is engaged with a notch defined in the fist end of the shackle.
Me present invention will become more obvious from Me following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes clef illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance win the present invention.
BRIEF, OESCItIPTION OF TlIE, DR SWINGS Fig. 1 is an exploded view to show the lock of the present invention; Fig. 2 is a perspective view to show the lock of the present invention; Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view to show the lock of Be present invention; Fig. 4 is a perspective view to show a conventional lock and Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view to show the conventional lock in Fig. 4.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TIlE PREFERREI) EMBODIMENT
Referring to Figs. 1 to 3, the lock 1 of the present invention comprises a body l0 having a first recesses 13 and a second recess 130 respectively defined in a top thereof and a passage 15 is defined in the body 10 and in communication between the first recess 13 and a bottom of the body 10. A chamber 11 is defined in the bottom of the body 10 and a core 30 including a key hole is received in Me chamber 11. The lower end of the core 30 is in flush with the bottom of the body 10.
Two rails 120 me connected to the bottom of the body 10 and a protection plate 121 is slidably connected between the two rails 120 Able protection plate 121 has a posting recess 1213 defied in a top surface thereof and communicating with the passage 15. A Cough hole 1211 is defied through the protection plate 121 and a flange 1212 extends inward from an inner periphery of the through hole 1211.
The protection plate 121 covers a part of a penpheIy of a bottom of the core 30 the chamber 11. A disk 122 is rotatably engaged with the through hole 1211 and supported on the flange 1212. The disk 122 has a slot 1221 which is in communication win the key hole of the core 30 so Mat a key 40 may extend Trough the slot 1221 and insert in Me key hole in the core 30. The disk 122 covers the rest part of the periphery of the bottom of the core 30. By the protection plate 121 and the disk 122, the periphery of Me core 30 is hidden and cannot be accessible from outside of the lock I so that the core 30 is protected from being damaged.
A shackle 20 has a first end inserted in the first recess 13 and a second end of the shackle 20 is inserted in the second recess 130. A spring 132 is received in the first recess 13 and biased between the first end of the shackle 20 and an inside of the first recess 13. A first pin 141 extends in a hole 14 defined in a surface of the body and is engaged with a notch defined in the first end of the shackle 20.
A second pin 131 is threadedly inserted in the passage 15 arid an end of the second pin 131 is engaged win the positioning recess 1213 of the protection plate 121 which is Men positioned and cannot be pulled away from the body 10.
The core 30 is well covered and only a very limited area is exposed so that it is difficult to find a place to damage We core 30. Ibe disk 122 can stop a drill bit to be damage the core 30 and me disk 122 will corotate with the drill bit and this makes me drill bit be difficult to be positioned so that me core 30 is protected from being damaged by the Will bit.
While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, should be clear to those skilled in the art mat fimher embodiments may be made without deponing from the scope of die present invention.
