Abstract
240,532. Jeapes, W. C. July 1, 1924. Kinematograph picture films.-A film of the kind having thickened margins to protect the picture portions from scratching &c. is produced by the application of liquid coatings to the margins of a film of uniform thickness. In the form shown, the perforated margins of the emulsion side 11 of the film have a thickening coating 14, formed by applying a solution of celluloid in alcohol, negative varnish, or shellac varnish, and the film is subsequently coated over its whole face with a protective coating 15, Alternatively, or in addition, a thickening coating may be applied upon one or both margins on the celluloid face of the film.
