Abstract

A vehicle racking system, particularly suitable for storage boxes, is in the form of rows (4) and columns (5); each of the columns having a pair of sliders (2) to allow the boxes to slide into the racking system. Doors (1) are provided at the entrance to the columns to shut the boxes in the racking, the doors being able to be locked. The racking is attached to the roof and walls of a truck's box body by suitable attachment means. Hydraulic legs are preferably provided for supporting the doors. Toggle catches may be provided to prevent the boxes from moving.

Description

TOTE BIN RACKING
This invention relates to a mountable tote,y,bin racking system.
Tote bins are well known container boxes; they can compromise a box shape with a seal able lid.
Box bodied trucks are well known vehicles.
Within the box body of an unmodified truck there is no adequate system in place to protect tote boxes from theft. When unmodified trucks are unlocked from the rear body doors there is no adequate additional security measures to prevent the tote boxes from being taken.
According to the present invention there is provided mountable tote bin racking compromising rows and columns, means for mounting the racking to the roof and walls of the box body, a lockable hydraulic door to the entrance of the racking, means of allowing the totes to be slid into and along the racking, a means of allowing the tote boxes to slide one section at a time.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 Shows in perspective, the front section of the racking. With one set of rows showing a door; Figure 2 shows the door of the racking from the side; Figure 3 shows the door front lower lip connection at the front of the racking; Figure 4 shows a complete overview of the racking; Figure 5 shows a complete side view of the racking; Figure 6 shows a complete front view with one; Figure 7 shows a complete perspective view of the racking; Figure 8 shows a complete side view of the racking from inside a trucks box body.
Referring to figure 7 the racking compromises of rows 4 and columns 5. In order to allow the tote boxes to slide into the racking system a pair of slides 2 are placed into each column. Doors I are used at the entrance of the racking to shut the tote boxes into the racking; these doors are secured by suitable means, for example key lock (not shown). Hydraulic legs 3 as shown in Fig 2 support doors 1. The racking is attached to the roof and walls of the trucks box body by suitable means (not shown) shown in Fig 8. At each intersection 6 there is a means of stopping the tote boxes sliding down the racking; for example, a toggle catch (not shown) in the direction of arrow 7 shown in Fig 5.

Claims (4)

CLAIIVIS
1 Tote box racking in the form of rows and columns compromising a pair of sliders per column. At the entrance of the racking a door is situated. There is also means of attaching the racking to the roof and walls of the trucks box body.
2 Tote box racking as claimed in Claim 1 wherein means of stopping the tote boxes from sliding to the next section is placed at each section of rows.
3 Tote box racking as Claimed in Claim 1 or 2, wherein means are provided to allow the door at the entrance of the racking to be lockable.
4 Tote box racking as claimed in claim 3, wherein the door is adapted so that that it is supported hydraulically.
Racking system as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the number of rows and columns contained in the racking can be adjusted to suite the width and height of the trucks box body.
