Abstract
A mattress 3 includes a body member (32), and a rigid support frame (31) that is connected tothe body member (32) for supporting the body member (32) thereon, and that includes at leastone support tube (312, 313) and at least one connecting tube (311) coupled separably to the support tube (312, 313). The crib comprises a frame 1, which includes a bottom frame (11) to receive the mattress 3, and a plurality of upright posts (12) and further includes a folding mechanism (111) mounted on the bottom frame (11) to enable the crib to be folded. The bassinet 2 is mounted removably on the connecting rods (13), is provided at the bottom thereof with the mattress 3 and further with a plurality of rigid boards stitched to the covering 21 and surrounding the mattress 3 to enhance the safety of a baby in the bassinet 2.
Description
MATTRESS AND A BABY CRIB HAVING THE SAME
The invention relates to a mattress, more particularly to a mattress that can be used In a baby orib.
A conventional baby crib generally includes a crib frame capable of being mounted removably with a bassinet that includes a mattress at a bottom thereof and that serves as a changing table or a bed for a baby. With theremovalofthebassinet, the cribframe canbemounted directly with the mattress for the baby to play thereon.
The mattress is generally provided with a rigid support frame to support the mattress thereon so as to ensure safety of babies.
The baby crib is usually designed to include a folding structure. When in a folded state, the baby crib is easy to be packaged, delivered, and stored. However, the folding process of the conventional baby crib is generally complex and troublesome.
Accordingly, a mattress of the present invention comprises a body member and a rigid support. The support frame is connected to the body member for supporting the body member thereon, and includes at least one support tube and at least one connecting tube coupled separably to the at least one support tube.

Before the present invention is described in greater detail with reference to the accompanying preferred embodiments, it shouldbenotedhereinthat like elements are denoted by the same referenoe numerals throughout
the disclosure.
As shown in Figures 1 and 2, a baby crib according to the present invention is shown to include a crib frame 1 and a bassinet 2. The crib frame 1 includes a bottom frame 11 for being placed with a first preferred embodiment of a mattress 3 thereon, and a plurality of upright posts 12 extending upwardly from the bottom frame 11. The crib frame 1 further includes a plurality of connecting rods 13, each of which interconnects an adjacent pair of the upright posts 12. The crib frame 1 further includes a foldingmechanismlll that ismounted on the bottom frame 11 and that enables the crib frame 1 to be folded. The bassinet 2 is mounted removably on the connecting rods 13, is surrounded by a covering 21, and is provided at a bottom thereof with the first preferred embodiment of the mattress 3. The bassinet 2 further includes a pluraiity of surrounding boards 22 made of rigid material, stitched to the covering 21 and surrounding the mattress 3 to enhance safety of a baby in the bassinet 2.
As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the first preferred embodiment of the mattress 3 according to the invention includes a support frame 31 and a body member 32. The support frame 31 is connected to the bottom surface of the body member 32 for supporting the body member 32 thereon. In this embodiment, the support frame 31 includes a pair of connecting tubes 311, a pair of first support tubes 312 and a second support tube 313 ccupled separably to the connecting tubes 311. The connecting tubes 311 are symmetrically arranged and are disposed on longitudinally-opposite sides of the bottom surface of the body member 32. Each of the connecting tubes 311 is U-shaped, and has a central part provided with a securing seat 314. The first support tubes 312 and the second support tube 313 are disposed along a longitudinal direction of the body member 32 with the second support tube 313 disposed between the first support tubes 312.
Each of the first support tubes 312 has one end extending removably into one end of one of the connecting tubes

311, and the other end extending removably into a corresponding end of the other one of the connecting tubes 311, such that the first support tubes 312 are in sleeving conneotion with the connecting tubes 311.
The second support tube 313 has one end extending removably into the securing seat 314 provided on one of the connecting tubes 311, and the other end extending removably into the securing seat 314 provided on the other one of the connecting tubes 311. The assembled support frame 31 has a digit-B-shape structure.
As shown in Figures 5 and 6, each of the securing seats 314 includes a base part 314a and a connecting part 314b extending from the base part 314a. The base part 314a is curved so as to be in proper contact with and is fixed to the corresponding one of the connecting tubes 311. The connecting part 314b is formed with an engaging hole 314c, has an open end 314d distal from the base part 3l4a, and diverges toward the open end 314d. The second support tube 313 includes a pair of engaging members 315. Each of the engaging members 315 includes a spring component 315a that has a bent middle part and that is disposed in a respective end of the second support tube 313, and a spring head 315b that is connected to an end of the spring component 315a and thatextendsoutwardlyoftherespectiveendofthesecond support tube 313. When assembling the support frame 31, the ends of the second support tube 313 are inserted respectively into the connecting parts 314b throngh the open ends 314d, and the spring heads 315b engage respectively the engaging holes 314c, thereby connecting the second snpport tube 313 to the connecting tubes 311. When depressed, the spring head 315b is disengaged from the corresponding engaging hole 314c so that the second support tube 313 is able to be disengaged from the corresponding connecting tube 311.
The diverging configuration of the connecting part 314b of each of the securing seats 314 is for guiding the insertion of the corresponding end of the second support tube 313. It is noted that, the engaging members 315 may be onitted, and each end of the second support tube 313 may be inserted directly and fittingly into the connecting part 314b of a respective one of the securing seats 314.
Tn the same token, connection among the first support tubes 312 and the connecting tubes 3llmaybe implemented through use of the engaging members 315.
Referring to Figures 3 to 6, in this embodiment, the bottom surface of the body member 32 is provided with three securing strips 321 extending in the longitudinal direction. Each of the securing strips 321 cooperates with the bottom surface to define a first receiving hole 3211 for extension of a respective one of the first and second support tubes 312, 313, thereby positioning the first and second support tubes 312, 313 on the bottom surface of the body member 32. The securing strip 321 used to position the second support tube 313 may be omitted. Each of the securing strips 321 is secured integrally to the bottom surface of the body member 32.
Moreover, the mattress 3 may further include a support plate 33 embedded into the body member 32 to enhance the rigidity of the body member 32.
Referring to Figures 7 to 11, the second preferred embodiment of a mattress 3 according to this invent ion is an alternative design of the first preferred embodiment. In this embodiment, the central part of the secondsupporttube3l3 is curved, whereas theconnection manners among the first support tubes 312 and the connecting tubes 311, and among the second support tube 313 and the connecting tubes 311 are identical to the first preferred embodiment, and hence are not further detailed herein for the sake of brevity.
In this embodiment, each of the first support tubes 312 is positioned by a plurality of spaced-apart first securing stripe 321' , and each of the connecting tubes 311 is positioned on the bottom surface of the bodymember 32 in the same manner using a plurality of spaced-apart second securing strips 322 that are provided on the bottom surface and that cooperate with the bottom surface to define second receiving holes 3112 for extension of the corresponding one of the connecting tubes 311 there through As shown in Figure 12, since the central part of the second support tube 313 has a curved structure, when the mattress 3 of this embodiment is placed on the bottom frame 11, the second support tube 313 can be disposed on a horizontal plane with the folding mechanism 111 of the bottom frame 11 instead of being stacked on the folding mechanism 111. As such, the baby can stay comfortably on the mattress 3.
Referringto Figures l3andl4, andfurtherreferring back to Figure 6, the third preferred embodiment of a mattress 3 according to this invention differs from the previous embodiments in the connection manners among the first support tubes 312, the second support tube 313 and the connecting tubes 311.
Referring further to Figures 14 and 15, each end of each of the first support tubes 312 is provided with an engaging member 315, which is identical to that of the first preferred embodiment. Each end of each of the connecting tubes 311 is formed with an engaging hole 311a corresponding to the spring head 315b of the corresponding engaging member 315 such that, when the first support tube 312 is extended into the corresponding connecting tube 311, the spring head 315b engages the engaginghole3lla.Moreover, foreachoftheconnecting tubes 311, the support frame 31 further includes a press member 316 having one end 316a fixed to the correspcnding connecting tube 311 and the other end 316b contacting the corresponding spring head 315b and resiliently movable to bias the spring head 315b for being disengaged from the engaging hole 314c, thereby disengaging the first support tubes 312 from the corresponding connecting tube 311.
As shown in Figures 16 and 17, the connections among the second support tube 313 and the connecting tubes 311 may as well be realized through securing seats 314' Each of the securing seats 314' includes a base part 314a' fixed to the corresponding one of the connecting tubes 311, and a connecting part 3l4b' extending from the base part 314a' and inserted directly and fittingly into the corresponding end of the second support tube 313.
When it is desired to use the baby crib, the first support tubes 312 and the second support tube 313 are first fixed to the bottom surface of the body member 32, and are then connected to the connecting tubes 311, so that the assembled mattress 3 can be put in the baby crib for use. On one hand, the design of the support frame 31 enhances the flatness of the mattress 3. On the other hand, the safety of the baby during use is also enhanced. When folding the baby crib, the support frame 31 of the mattress 3 can be guickly and easily disassembled.
The support frame 31 of these embodiments is not limited for use with the mattress 3 of the baby crib, and can be applied to other similar pad strnctures according to the practical needs.
Claims (1)
- <claim-text>CLAIMS: 1. A mattress comprising: a body member; and a rigid support frame that is connected to said body member for supporting saidbodymember thereon, and that includes at least one support tube and at least one connecting tube coupled separably to said at least one support tube.</claim-text> <claim-text>2. The mattress as claimed in claim 1, wherein said support frame includes a pair of said connecting tubes coupled to said body member, and at least two of said support tubes, each of which has one end connected sleevinglyandremovablytc one of said connecting tubes, and the other end connected sleevingly and removably to the other one of said connecting tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>3. The mattress as claimed in claim 2, wherein: each of said connecting tubes is U-shaped; and each of said support tubes has said one end connected sleevingly and removably to an end of one of said connecting tubes, and said other end connected sleevingly and removably to a corresponding end of the other one of said connecting tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>4. The mattress as claimed in claim 2, wherein: each of said connecting tubes is provided with a securing seat; and one of said support tubes has said one end connected sleevingly and removably to an end of one of said connecting tubes, and said other end connected sleevingly and removabiy to a corresponding end of the other one of said connecting tubes; and the other one of said support tubes has said one end connectedsleevinglyandremcvablytosaidsecuringseat provided on one of said connecting tubes, and said other endconnectedsleevinglyandremovablyto saidsecuring seat provided on the other one of said connecting tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>5. The mattress as claimed in claim 4, wherein said one of said support tubes interconnecting said securing seats has a curved shape.</claim-text> <claim-text>6. The mattress as claimed in claim 4, wherein said support frame has a digit-8 shape structure.</claim-text> <claim-text>7. The mattress as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of saidsecuringseatshas abasepart fixedtoarespective one of said connecting tubes, and a connecting part extending from said base part and connected sleevingly and removably to a corresponding end of a corresponding one of said support tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>8. The mattress as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of said support tubes includes an engaging member that engages removably said end of a corresponding one of saidsupporttubesoracorrespondingoneofsaidsecuring seats.</claim-text> <claim-text>9. The mattress as claimed in claim 8, wherein each of said connecting tubes is formed with an engaging hole engaged removably with said engaging member of a corresponding one of said support tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>10. The mattress as claimed in claim 8, wherein said connectingpart of each of said securing seats is formed with an engaging hole engaged removably with said engaging member of a corresponding one of said securing seats.</claim-text> <claim-text>11. The mattress as claimed in claim 7, wherein said connecting part of each of said securing seats has an openenddistalfromsaidbasepart, anddiverging toward saidopenendforguidinginsertionofthecorresponding end of the corresponding one of said support tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>12. The mattress as claimed in any one of claims 9 and 10, wherein each engaging member includes a spring component that has a bent middle part and that is disposed inacorrespondingoneofsaidsupporttubes, anda spring head that is connected to an end of said spring component, that extends outwardly of said corresponding one of said support tubes and that engages said engaging hole of said end of the corresponding one of said support tubes or the corresponding one of said securing seats.</claim-text> <claim-text>13. The mattress as claimed in claim 12, wherein said support frame further includes at least two press members, each having one end that is fixed to a respective one of said connecting tubes and the other end that is resiliently movable to bias said spring head of a corresponding engagingmember to be disengaged from said engaging hole of said end of the corresponding one of 1 1 said support tubes or the corresponding one of said securing seats.</claim-text> <claim-text>14. The mattress as claimed in claim 2, wherein said body member has a bottom snrface provided with at least two first securing strips, each cooperating with said bottom surface of said body member to define a first receiving hole for extension of a respective one of said support tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>15. The mattress as claimed in claim 14, wherein said bottom surface of said body member is further provided withapairof second securing strips, each cooperating with said bottom surface to define a second receiving hole for extension of a respective one of said connecting tubes.</claim-text> <claim-text>16. The mattress as claimed in claim 14, wherein each of said first securing strips and said second securing strips is secured integrally to said bottom surface of said body member.</claim-text> <claim-text>17. A baby crib comprising a crib frame, a bassinen that is mounted removably on said crib frame and that is provided with a mattress as claimed in any one of the claims 1 to 16.</claim-text> <claim-text>18. The mattress substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.</claim-text> <claim-text>19. The baby crib substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.</claim-text>
