Abstract

The invention relates to a wrist or arm band 1 that comprises a means for supporting a torch. The wrist band may form part of a glove, and may also comprise means for releasably attaching a number of other items such as a mobile phone holder, notepad and pencil, camera or a secure box.

Description

DtIe: Band with Torch The present invention relates to band with torch.

A torch is often required at short notices often when no torch is at hand. This may be due to power failures, to brighten up dark areas, or at night both indoors and outdoors.

It is also desirable to keep about one's person whilst using one's hands doing jobs other products such as pen and paper, mobile phones, cameras etc. The invention seeks to provide a solution to this problem.

According to the present invention there is provided a band to engage around the arm or wrist, said band supporting a torch.

Preferably the band further supports a bracket to engage with a holder for an object. Preferably the bracket forms a first co-operating component to releasable engage with a second co- operating component on an object holder, whereby different holders each with a second co-operating component can be interchanged on the band.

The band may be adapted to engage the wrist of a user. The band may form part of a glove.

Preferably the torch is adapted to be support in the inside of the wrist and any bracket on the outside of the wrist.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a band on the wrist of a user, and Figures 2A to 2C shows different holders which may be used with the band.

Referring to Figure 1, there is shown a band 1 to engage around the arm or wrist of a person.

Band I may be of any suitable type such as an elasticated band. Band I may also form the open end of a glove.

Secured to band 1 is a torch 2 with an onloff switch 3. Band I preferably supports the torch 2 so that is on the inside of the arm or wrist. The torch may be used "hands free" leaving the hands free to perform tasks whilst allowing the torch to illuminate the task being performed by the hands. The beam of the torch may be directed inwards as shown or may be directed towards the fingers. Also the torch could be on the outside of the arm.

Band 1 further supports a bracket in the form of C-shaped slot 4 forming a first co-operating component to engage with a T-shaped projection 5 forming a second co-operating component on an object holder in the form of a C-shaped clamp 6 for a mobile phone 10. Slot 4 is on the opposite side of band 1 to torch 2. Slot 4 may have a rib 4A which releasably engages with a recess SA in projection 5 to prevent the projection 5 from sliding out of slot 4 in use, but allows the rib 4A ride out of the recess 5A when under pressure to slide projection 5 to out of the slot 4 to change a holder 6. Mobile phone 10 is shown supported normal the arm but is could be supported "in line" with the arm.

As shown in Figure 2A, holder 6 may have a surface supporting a notepad and pencil ii. The pencil may have an eraser.

As shown in Figure 2B, holder 6 may be an open box to accommodate a camera 12.

As shown in Figure 2C, holder 6 may be a box with a closable lid, e.g. to store keys, money or a watch.

lit is envisage that a user would purchase the band I with torch 2 and would also purchase any number of different holders to support objects and interchange the holders on the band as required.

Holders may be designed to accommodate many different types of objects not itemised above including rechargeable batteries, radios, identity cards or tags, security tags, voice recorders, video cameras, laser beam apparatus and measuring devices, aerial devices, or satellite navigation devices. Also the band could incorporate objects. For example the band be designed to hold a watch face such that the band itself effectively becomes a watch strap, or a mobile telephone could be designed to be integral with the band such as a curved phone housing supported in a pocket or the like on the band, with the curve of the phone accommodating the curve of a user's arm. Also the band could incorporate flashing lights which may be useful for cyclists wishing to warn motorists of their presence.

The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above.

Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

CLAIMS1. A band to engage around the arm or wrist, said band supporting a torch.
2. A band according to claim I, wherein the band further supports a bracket to engage with a holder for an object.
3. A band according to claim 2, wherein the bracket forms a first co-operating component to releasable engage with a second co-operating component on an object holder, whereby different holders each with a second co-operating component can be interchanged on the band.
4. A band according to any preceding claim, wherein the band is adapted to engage the wrist of a user.
S. A band according to any preceding claim, wherein the band may form part of a glove.
6. A band according to any preceding claim, wherein the torch is adapted to be support in the inside of the wrist and any bracket on the outside of the wrist.
7. A band substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
