Abstract

248,162. Murray, K. F. M., and Sandford, L., G. Feb. 12, 1925. Joints with yielding outer part compressed.- A connector for hose pipes x comprises a metal sleeve a arranged to fit within the ends of the hose and provided with one or more circular projections or bulges a' at each end, the hose pipes being held on said sleeve by a plurality of fingers c, c<1>, formed in the edges of one or more metal discs b, b<2> attached radially to the sleeve, and adapted, when hammered down, to grip the hose immediately behind or in advance of the projections a<1>. The fingers c, c<1> are tapered from their base to their extremities, which extremities c<2> are bent inwardly at approximately right angles to the fingers and cut to form teeth, while the outer edges of the turned-over ends c<2> are bevelled off. The spaces between the fingers are so proportioned and the fingers are so shaped that when they are hammered down their edges do not press against each other or overlap. A slightly modified connector for connecting a hose pipe to a tap &c. is described.
