Abstract

An electronic shelf label assembly comprises an electronic shelf label body (20) mounted and secured to a lockable receiving unit (40). The receiving unit is suspended from a hanger (50) via a suspension element (60), wherein the suspension element is secured between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving unit. The suspension element has an overlapping double plate structure and comprises a hinge hole 62 into which a hinge rod 56, provided on a front side of the hanger, is inserted, and a separation preventing hole 64.

ELECTRONIC SHELF LABEL ASSEMBLY
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
This application claims the priority of Korean Patent Application No. 2009-0031288 filed on April 10, 2009, in the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to electronic shelf label assemblies and, more particularly, to an electronic shelf label assembly that can effectively prevent theft by securing an electronic shelf label body to a receiving holder mounted on a hanger.
Description of the Related Art
In general, information about products being displayed and sold in stores is shown using card type display tags made of paper.
The information about the products, such as product names, prices, management numbers or barcodes for store management, is displayed on these card type paper display tags, which allow for easy store management for retailers and provide consumers with product information.
Electronic shelf labels have appeared along with the development of displays and have come into widespread use. In comparison with card type paper display tags, these electronic shelf labels make it easy to change the pricing information or product codes displayed thereon. At the same time, however, the use of electronic shelf labels may lead to frequent thefts.
Page 1 Furthermore, there has been a need for a method of securing these electronic shelf labels to a hanger, in which products are arranged in a row, rather than along a rail.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An aspect of the present invention provides an electronic shelf label assembly that can effectively prevent theft by securing an electronic shelf label assembly to a receiving holder mounted on a hanger.
According to an aspect of the invention there is provided an electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label body by a locking device; a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the locking device; and a hanger connected to the fixer such that the electronic shelf label body is rotatable, wherein the fixer has an overlapping double plate structure and comprises a hinge hole into which a fixer hinge rod, provided on a front side of the hanger, is inserted; and a separation preventing hole comprising an inclined lower plate in order to prevent separation of the receiving holder.
The locking device may be a fastening unit used to couple an upper cover of the receiving holder and the electronic shelf label body to each other.
A position determining part may be provided in a lower part of the electronic shelf label body or a lower cover of the receiving holder so that the electronic shelf label body is received in the receiving holder.
Page 2 The fixer may be secured to a fixer movement preventing recess provided in the receiving holder.
The fixer may include a hinge hole into which a fixer hinge rod, provided on a front side of the hanger, is inserted, and the fixer hinge rod may be vertically connected to a fixer connecting leg of the hanger.
The hinge hole and the separation preventing hole may be separated from each other.
According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided an electronic shelf label assembly comprising an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label body by a locking device; a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the locking device; and a hanger connected to the fixer such that the electronic shelf label body is rotatable; wherein the locking device is received in the electronic shelf label body and has a protrusion to be coupled to a protrusion receiving portion formed in the receiving holder, and the protrusion is vertically movable outside the electronic shelf label assembly, and wherein the locking device is received so as to be vertically movable in a locking device support unit provided inside the electronic shelf label body, and includes a transfer protrusion that performs a vertical translation by a rotary movement of a tool, introduced from the outside the electronic shelf label body.
According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided an electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label Page 3 body by a locking device; a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the locking device; and a hanger connected to the fixer such that the electronic shelf label body is rotatable, wherein the locking device is received in the electronic shelf label body and has a protrusion to be coupled to a protrusion receiving portion formed in the receiving holder, and the protrusion is vertically movable outside the electronic shelf label assembly, and wherein the protrusion receiving portion is provided as a receiving hole, and a cap is inserted into a remaining space of the receiving hole after the protrusion is inserted into the receiving hole.
According to another aspect of the invention there is provided an electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder receiving the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label body by a locking device; and a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the ocking device, and comprising a hinge hole having an overlapping double structure to allow for a rotary movement of the electronic shelf label body; and a hanger having a fixer connecting leg coupled to the hinge hole and supporting the electronic shelf label body so that the electronic shelf label body is rotatable, wherein the locking device is a screw used to fasten together a screw receiving hole provided in an upper cover of the receiving holder and a screw receiving portion of the electronic shelf label body.
According to yet another aspect of the invention there is provided an electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body; a locking device received in the Page 4 electronic shelf label body and performing a vertical translation by a rotary movement of a tool, introduced from the outside of the electronic shelf label body, and comprising a protrusion to be elastically coupled to an upper cover of the receiving holder, and a fixer secured between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder and comprising a hinge hole including an overlapping double structure to allow for a rotary movement of the electronic shelf label body.
Optional features of these aspects of the invention are set out in the dependent claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Exemplary embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. The invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. While those skilled in the art could readily devise many other varied embodiments that incorporate the teachings of the present invention through the addition, modification or deletion of elements, such embodiments may fall within the scope of the present invention.

FIG. 1 is a schematic perspective view illustrating an electronic shelf label assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention. FIG. 2 is a schematic exploded perspective view illustrating a state in which an electronic shelf label body is coupled to a receiving holder according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
FIG. 3 is a schematic exploded perspective view illustrating a state in which a receiving holder, a fixer and a hanger are coupled to each other according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention. FIG. 4 is a side view schematically illustrating a state in which an electronic shelf label body is coupled to a receiving holder according to an exemplary embothment of the invention.
Referring to FIGS. 1 through 4, an electronic shelf label assembly 10 according to this embodiment may include an electronic shelf label body 20, a receiving holder 40, a fixer 60 and a hanger 50.
The electronic shelf label body 20 is an electronic tag of a product being displayed on a shelf in a store. A product's name, a product's price, a barcode and a management number for store management are displayed on the electronic shelf label body 20. A store supervisor can easily change product information through wireless mobile communications, using an electronic tag.
The receiving holder 40 may hold the electronic shelf label body 20 while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body 20. The receiving holder 40 may be engaged with the electronic shelf label body 20 by a locking device 30.
The locking device 30 may be a fastener that is used to secure an upper cover 42 of the receiving holder 40 to the electronic shelf label body 20. The fastener may be a screw S that is inserted into a screw insertion hole 46 and a screw receiving portion 29 at the same time. The screw insertion hole 46 is formed in the upper cover 42 of the Page 7 receiving holder 40, and the screw receiving portion 29 is formed in the electronic shelf label body 20.
The fixer 60 makes contact with a fixer movement preventing recess 45 formed in the inside of the receiving holder 40, and the electronic shelf label body 20 is then secured to the receiving holder 40 using the locking devices 30, so that the fixer 60 can be firmly secured between the electronic shelf label body 20 and the receiving holder 40.
Hinge holes 62 are formed through the fixer 60 in such a way that a fixer hinge rod 56, provided on a front side of the hanger 50, is inserted into the hinge holes 62. The fixer hinge rod 56 is perpendicular to a fixer connecting leg 52 of the hanger 50, and the fixer hinge rod 56 is inserted into the hinge holes 62. The electronic shelf label body 20 can move back and forth.
The hanger 50 is connected to the fixer 60 such that the electronic shelf label body 20 can rotate. Further, the hanger 50 includes a shelf fixing unit 58 that allows the hanger 50 to be secured to the shelf on which the product is displayed.
The electronic shelf label body 20 may have a double leg structure including the fixer connecting leg 52 and a product connecting leg 54. The electronic shelf label body is connected to the fixer connecting leg 52, and the product connecting leg 54 allows products to be arranged in a row.
FIG. 5 is a schematic exploded perspective view illustrating a state in which an electronic shelf label body is coupled to a receiving holder according to another exemplary embodiment of the invention. FIG. 6 is a side view illustrating a first example in which an electronic shelf label body is coupled to a receiving holder according to another exemplary embodiment of the invention. FIG. 7 is a side view illustrating a second example in which an electronic shelf label body is coupled to a receiving holder Page 8 according to another exemplary embodiment of the invention.
Referring to FIGS. 5 through 7, an electronic shelf label assembly 10 according to this embodiment may include an electronic shelf label body 20, a receiving holder 40, a fixer 60 and a hanger 50.
Unlike the electronic shelf label assembly according to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 through 4, the electronic shelf label assembly 10 according to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 through 7 may have a configuration in which a locking device 30 may be formed within the electronic shelf label body 20.
The receiving holder 40, the fixer 60 and the hanger 50 according to this embodiment are basically similar with those of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 through 4. Thus, a difference in the locking devices 30 between the embodiments will be only described.
The electronic shelf label body 20 may have a front case 22 and a rear case 24 that are bonded to each other by ultrasonic welding and are thus hermetically sealed. A display panel 25 displaying product information thereon and a control board 26 controlling the driving of the display panel 25 may be provided between the front case 22 and the rear case 24.
The locking device 30 may be received inside the electronic shelf label body 20 and have a protrusion 32 that is received in a protrusion receiving portion 45 formed in the receiving holder 40.
The locking device 30 is controlled such that the protrusion 32 moves up and down outside the electronic shelf label body 20. The electronic shelf label body 20 may be secured to the receiving holder 40 by the locking device 30.
A tool insertion hole 27 is formed in a side surface of the electronic shelf label body 20 in which the locking device 30 is received. An adjustment tool 80 (refer to FIGS. Page 9 8 and 9) that can move the locking device 30 up and down may be inserted into the tool insertion hole 27.
The locking device 30 may be formed into one frame 34. The protrusion 32 to be received in the protrusion receiving portion 45 is formed on an upper part of the frame 34, while a spring 38 may be provided on a lower part of the frame 34 such that the protrusion 32 of the locking device 30 is elastically coupled to the protrusion receiving portion 45.
The locking device 30 may be received so as to be vertically movable in a locking device support unit 36 that is formed inside the electronic shelf label body 20.
As for the receiving holder 40, shown in FIG. 6, a receiving hole 47 replaces the protrusion receiving portion 45, formed in the upper cover 42. A cap 43 may be inserted into the remaining space of the receiving hole 47 after the protrusion 32 is inserted into the receiving hole 47. The cap 43 prevents a pointed object from being inserted into the receiving hole 47, pushing the protrusion 32 away and finally removing the electronic shelf label body 20 from the receiving holder 40.
As for the receiving holder 40, shown n FIG. 7, a receiving groove 49 into which the protrusion 32 are inserted replaces the protrusion receiving portion 45 formed in the upper cover 42.
The receiving hole 47 and the receiving groove 49 may be formed by drilling or boring according to the width and length of the protrusion 32.
A position determining part may be formed in a lower part of the electronic shelf label body 20 or the lower cover 44 of the receiving holder 40 so that the electronic shelf label body 20 is received in the receiving holder 40.
Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, the position determining part includes a position determining groove 28 and a position determining hole 48. The position determining Page 10 groove 28 is formed in a lower surface of the electronic shelf label body 20. The position determining protrusion 48 protrudes from the lower cover 44 of the receiving holder 40 so that the position determining protrusion 48 is inserted and fixed in the position determining groove 28.
The position determining groove 28 and the position determining hole 48 can stably support the electronic shelf label body 20 in the receiving holder 40 even after the electronic shelf label body 20 has been received in the receiving holder 40 as well as at a moment when the electronic shelf label body 20 is received in the receiving holder 40.
FIG. 8 is a side cross-sectional view illustrating a protrusion of a locking device that protrudes out from the electronic shelf label body according to another exemplary embodiment of the invention. FIG. 9 is a side cross-sectional view illustrating a protrusion of a locking device according to an exemplary embodiment that is inserted into the electronic shelf label body.
In FIG. 8, the locking device 30 is fixed to the receiving holder 40. FIG. 9 illustrates a state before the locking device 30 is mounted on the receiving holder 40 or a state in which the mounted locking device 30 is separated from the receiving holder 40.
A tool insertion hole 37 may be formed in the frame 34 of the locking device 30 so that a tool 80 is inserted into the tool insertion hole 37 and can move the locking device 30 up and down. The tool insertion hole 37 is arranged at a position corresponding to the tool insertion hole 27 formed in the side surface of the electronic shelf label body 20 when the protrusion 32 protrudes out from the electronic shelf label body 20.
The tool insertion hole 27 of the electronic shelf label body 20 and the tool insertion hole 37 of the locking device 30 may have the same shape. A head 85 of the Page ILl tool 80 having the same shape as the tool insertion holes 27 and 37 is inserted into the tool insertion holes 27 and 37.
Here, a vertical protrusion 87 may be formed on one side of the head 85 of the tool 80, and the protrusion 87 may come into contact with the transfer protrusion 35 formed on the frame of the locking device 30.
When the tool 80 is rotated, the transfer protrusion 35 in contact with the protrusion 87 performs a vertical translation.
In particular, the protrusion 87 makes contact with an upper part of the transfer protrusion 35. When the tool 80 is rotated counterclockwise, the protrusion 87 of the tool 80 presses the transfer protrusion 35. At this time, the protrusion 32, formed on the upper part of the frame 34, is pressed down into the protrusion movement hole 23 formed in the upper surface of the electronic shelf label body 20.
When the tool 80 is rotated clockwise, the transfer protrusion 35 is moved upward along the protrusion 87 of the tool 80 by the spring 38 provided under the frame 34. The protrusion 32, formed on the upper part of the frame 34, is then moved outside the electronic shelf label body 20 through the protrusion movement hole 23 formed in the upper surface of the electronic shelf label body 20.
FIGS. 1OA and lOB are schematic perspective views illustrating a fixer according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
Fixers 60, shown in FIGS. 1OA and lOB, are similar to each other in that they each have a double plate structure. The fixer 60, shown in FIG. IOA, only has hinge holes 62 formed therein. The fixer 60, shown in FIG. lOB, has separation prevention holes 64 as well as hinge holes 62.
The fixer connecting leg 52 of the hanger 50 is hinge-connected to the hinge holes 62 of the fixer 60, shown in FIG. bA. The electronic shelf label body 20 to be Page 12 connected to the fixer 60 may make contact with the product connecting leg 54 of the hanger 50 and be supported.
Meanwhile, when the fixer connecting leg 52 of the hanger 50 is hinge-connected to the hinge holes 62 of the fixer 60, shown in FIG. lOB, the electronic shelf label body 20 to be connected to the fixer 60 may be supported without making contact with the product connecting leg 54 of the hanger 50.
That is, extensions 66 are formed to provide the hinge holes 62 and the separation prevention holes 64, which do not make contact with the product connecting leg 54. On the other hand, a lower plate of the fixer 60 having a double plate structure, such as the separation prevention holes 64, is inclined in a direction of the extensions, thereby preventing the electronic shelf label body 20 from tilting backwards.
As set forth above, according to exemplary embodiments of the invention, in an electronic shelf label assembly, an electronic shelf label body is locked into a receiving holder fixed to a hanger, thereby preventing theft.
Furthermore, a fixer has a double plate structure and includes a hinge hole and a separation preventing hole separated from the hinge hole by a predetermined distance and having an inclined lower plate, so that the electronic shelf label body can easily rotate and the fixer can be prevented from being separated from a hanger.
While the present invention has been shown and described in connection with the exemplary embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

Claims (11)

  1. CLAIMS1. An electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label body by a locking device; a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the locking device; and a hanger connected to the fixer such that the electronic shelf label body isrotatable,wherein the fixer has an overlapping double plate structure and comprises: a hinge hole into which a fixer hinge rod, provided on a front side of the hanger, is inserted; and a separation preventing hole comprising an inclined lower plate in order to prevent separation of the receiving holder.
  2. 2. The electronic shelf label assembly of Claim 1, wherein the locking device is a fastening unit used to couple an upper cover of the receiving holder and the electronic shelf label body to each other.
  3. 3. An electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label body Page 4 by a locking device; a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the ocking device; and a hanger connected to the fixer such that the electronic shelf label body isrotatable;wherein the locking device is received in the electronic shelf label body and has a protrusion to be coupled to a protrusion receiving portion formed in the receiving holder, and the protrusion is vertically movable outside the electronic shelf label assembly, wherein the locking device is received so as to be vertically movable in a locking device support unit provided inside the electronic shelf label body, and includes a transfer protrusion that performs a vertical translation by a rotary movement of a tool, introduced from the outside the electronic shelf label body.
  4. 4. The electronic shelf label assembly of Claim 3, wherein the protrusion is elastically coupled to the protrusion receiving portion by a spring.
  5. 5. An electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label body by a locking device; a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the locking device; and a hanger connected to the fixer such that the electronic shelf label body is Page 15rotatable;wherein the locking device is received in the electronic shelf label body and has a protrusion to be coupled to a protrusion receiving portion formed in the receiving holder, and the protrusion is vertically movable outside the electronic shelf label assembly, wherein the protrusion receiving portion is provided as a receiving hole, and a cap is inserted into a remaining space of the receiving hole after the protrusion is inserted into the receiving hole.
  6. 6. The electronic shelf label assembly of Claim 1, wherein a position determining part is provided in a lower part of the electronic shelf label body or a lower cover of the receiving holder so that the electronic shelf label body is received in the receiving holder.
  7. 7. The electronic shelf label assembly of Claim 1, wherein the fixer is secured to a fixer movement preventing recess provided in the receiving holder.
  8. 8. The electronic shelf label assembly of Claim 1, wherein the fixer hole comprises a hinge hole into which a fixer hinge rod, provided on a front side of the hanger, is inserted, and the fixer hinge rod is vertically connected to a fixer connecting leg of the hanger.
  9. 9. The electronic shelf label assembly of Claim 1, wherein the hinge hole and the separation preventing hole are separated from each other.

An electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder receiving the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body, and coupled to the electronic shelf label body by a locking device; and a fixer fixed between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving holder when the electronic shelf label body is secured using the locking device, and comprising a hinge hole having an overlapping double structure to allow for a rotary movement of the electronic shelf label body; and a hanger having a fixer connecting leg coupled to the hinge hole and supporting the electronic shelf label body so that the electronic shelf label body is rotatable, wherein the locking device is a screw used to fasten together a screw receiving hold provided in an upper cover of the receiving holder and a screw receiving portion of the electronic shelf label body.
  11. 11. An electronic shelf label assembly comprising: an electronic shelf label body displaying product information; a receiving holder holding the electronic shelf label body while exposing a front surface of the electronic shelf label body; a locking device received in the electronic shelf label body and performing a vertical translation by a rotary movement of a tool, introduced from the outside of the electronic shelf label body, and comprising a protrusion to be elastically coupled to an upper cover of the receiving holder, and a fixer secured between the electronic shelf label body and the receiving Page 17 holder and comprising a hinge hole including an overlapping double structure to allow for a rotary movement of the electronic shelf label body.Page 18
