Abstract
A lockable mail slot assembly comprises a frame having an inner face and an outer face, a flap pivotally mounted in the frame between the inner and outer faces and a pair of rotatably-mounted lever-type locking members 5 on an inner surface of the frame and operable from a first position in which the flap can be pushed open to a second position in which they prevent the frame from opening. Retention bumps 6 are provided on the flap to help keep the locking levers in position. The mail slot may have a tamper proof lip on the frame surrounding the flap and be fabricated of flame retardant materials. In use, the lockable mail flap prevents fireworks or other articles being pushed through the slot and helps prevent arson.

Staysafe Locking Letterboxes
Description
Advantages the problems it can help solve This invention relates to secure the letterbox that is fitted to the inside of the main door covering the inside of the letterbox. At the bottom of the moulded hinged letterbox flap it has a devise that is turned and clicked into the shut position at night so it can provide a secure safe and effective method of security preventing at night: 1. (3) The hinge is supported by a frame edge for easy outward movement. (4) There is a tamperproof lip around the flap area for extra security. (5) In the locked position the levers are in near the center for rigidity and hold the flap securely in position. (6) Retention bumps have been used to keep the locking leaver in position. (7) In the open position the leavers are down and the flap is easily opened for day use. (8) Locking leavers are to be assembled by screws to make them serviceable replacements that could be fitted if worn.
