Abstract

A device for carrying skis, snowboards or the like comprises a strap with adjustable fasteners and may be worn as a belt when not in use. The belt has adjustable two-piece fasteners so as to be adjustable in size. Two metal rings may be provided at one end of the belt so that is may be tensioned and secured by passing a free end of the belt through the rings.

Description

DISCRIPTION
Dual purpose carrying belt An example of the invention will now be explained with reference to the following diagrams: Diagram I shows the 2 adjustable belt fastenings around the object to be carried.
Diagram 2 shows the tensioning system for the belt.
Diagram 3 shows the position of the belt when used for carrying skis.
Diagram 4 shows the conversion to a normal belt.
This invention arose after experiencing great difficulty carrying skis to the slopes while having to negotiate stairs and other people also having to carry skis. This action being very difficult while walking in ski boots and possibly having to carry the skis of small children in addition.
The invention allows the user to carry items such as skis on their backs using a shoulder strap thus allowing the use of their hands which are now free. Once the destination is reached the strap can be reconfigured to secure around the waist like a normal belt.
The invention is a fabric belt with 2x 2 piece securing buckles, one side of each buckle on a fixed position on the fabric belt, the other side of each buckle able to slide freely along the belt. Note only I female and I male side may be fixed. A third 2 piece adjustment device allows the belt to be tensioned when in place on the wearer.
The fabric belt has 2x 2 piece fastenings (A+C) and (B+D) shown in diagram I. Two halves of each of the fastenings are in a fixed position on the belt (C+D, diagram 1) secured with stitching and/or adhesive. The remaining 2 halves of the fastenings have the belt pasted through them but are able to slide freely along the belt (A+B diagram I).
With reference to diagram I A+C and B+D can then be secured around an object such as skis and the belt tensioned at points + F, locking the object in place. At one end of the beltl strap there is nothing at the other end there is a loop with 2x metal rings attached (a diagram 2). The free end of the strap! belt (F diagram 2) is passed through and over the front ring and under the back ring thus creating a locking mechanism under tension (diagram 2). A fastening such as (A+C or B+D) could also be used.
The strap securing the object such as skis can then be passed over the shoulder and tensioned as shown in diagram 3, by pulling at point F. When the destination is reached and the articles no longer need carrying the two 2 piece fastenings A+C and B+D (diagrams land 4) can be undone and the object released. The belt can then be placed around the waist of the user and fixed by connecting the free moving sides of the fastenings A+B together (diagram 4). The belt can be tensioned around the waist by pulling at point F, this is possible because fastening points A+B are able to move freely.
