Abstract

244,856. Rippingille, F. S. Oct. 11, 1924. Spouts.-A pouring nozzle 1, Fig. 1, for petrol cans and like containers is formed with an enlargement intermediate its ends across which a gauze strainer is arranged, a venting device being provided consisting of an air-tube of " petrolproof " indiarubber or other flexible material, carrying a float 16 which may be fitted with a ball valve 18 adapted to prevent entrance of liquid, and having an atmospheric connection through the wall of the nozzle. An extension, also of " petrol-proof " indiarubber, may be fitted to the delivery end 9. The nozzle may be. formed of two conical portions meeting at an angle, as shown, a straining gauze 4 held between two washers or frames 5, 6, Fig. 4, being clamped between them, or it may be of the spherical form shown in Fig. 8 and the parts 2, 3 may be detachably connected by a screwthread or bayonet-joint. In the form shown in Fig. 8 the air-pipe 13 passes through the gauze strainer and is formed in two parts connected by a spigot-and-socket or other joint.
