Abstract

244,566. Sargeant, R. S. Nov. 10, 1924. Rackets.-Tennis rackets are cut from a flat slab built up of wood veneers cemented together under pressure with the grains arranged alternately at right-angles to form ply wood of the thickness of the racket. The shape of the frame and handle is marked out on the slab by means of a template and the racket is then cut out of the solid bv a band or fret saw. The frame and handle are covered by strips E, F, H of vulcanised fibre, and the frame is pierced in the usual way to receive the gut.
