Abstract

Flooring and paving slabs; compound slabs.- Paving and flooring slabs 1 of rubber or like material are provided on the undersurfaoe with a plurality of projections 3, 4, having heads or depressions 5, 6, or both heads and depressions, at their extremities for anchoring the slabs to a cementitious or like bed or base-block. Slabs may have projections varying in height, such projections being located in lines parallel with the edges of the slabs and alternating in height. The segmental projections at the edges of the slab may vary similarly in height. The projections are of circular or elongated cross section, and their junctions with the undersurfaces of the slabs may be rounded or bevelled. The number of projections spaced from the edges is greater than the number of segmental projections at the edges. The edges of the slab are bevelled as at 10 and the surfaces are provided with grooves 9. The rubber slabs may be applied to an extended concrete base, or each rubber slab may have a separate concrete baseblock, the arrangement in the latter case being either to mould the cementitious base on to the pre-moulded rubber slab, or to mould and vulcanize the rubber on to the pre-moulded base. The depressions 5, 6 are stated also to facilitate the withdrawal of the rubber slabs from their moulds. Specifications 194,618, 208,679, 214,433, and 218,919 are referred to.
