Abstract

A double or single sided comb has a handle extending from the spine at 90 to the teeth in the manner of a rake. One set of teeth may be curved in the centre to fit over the crown of the head.

Description

RAKE HANDLED HAIR COMB This invention relates to a rake handled hair comb.
Hair combs are well known items which can be manufactured from various materials: shell, plastic, metals. They comprise a flat or gently rounded spine or strut which runs the full length of the comb with teeth (spaced of varying sizes and of varying lengths to suit all hair types). Specialist combs for fine hair, Afro-Caribbean and thick hair, dust combs and nit combs are well known. Some combs are double-sided, i.e. have two sets of teeth either side of the spine.
According to the present invention there is provided a double-sided or single-sided comb with a flat tapered handle attached to the spine and at 90% to the comb's teeth. This enables the comb to be handled keeping fingers away from the teeth.
One set of teeth is arranged in a centre curve which enables combing over the crown (rounded area) of the head. This allows teeth to comb up from the roots in close proximity to the scalp over an area the width of the comb.
FIG 1 shows in perspective the front of the comb and partial view of the handle, the upper teeth being curved with straight edge of the top.
FIG 2 shows a partial view of the comb's teeth, the handle being shown attached to the spine.
FIG 3 shows a rear view of the single sided comb with the handle attached to the spine in the centre.
FIG 4 shows a rear view with the handle being attached to the end of the spine/ comb.

Claims (1)

  1. This invention relates to a rake handled hair comb.
    1 Hair combs are well known ibems which can be manufactured from various materials: shell, plastic, metals. They comprise a flat or gently rounded spine or strut which runs the full length of the comb with teeth (spaced of varying sizes and of varying lengths to suit all hair types). Specialist combs for fine hair, AfroCaribbean and thick hair, dust combs and nit combs are well know. Some combs are double-sided, i.e. have two sets of teeth either side of the spine.
    3,According to the present invention there is provided a double-sided or single-sided comb with a flat tapered handle attached to the spine and at 90% to the comb's teeth This enables the comb to be handled keeping fingers away from the teeth.
