Abstract

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

Description

STUD STUDS ARE USUALLY FITTED TO SPORTS SHOESIBOOTS WITH ThE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING EXTRA GRIP ON SOFT OR SLIPPERY SURFACES.
FOR EXTERNAL SPORTS THESE SURFACES ARE OFTEN GRASSY OR MUDDY AREAS.
HOWEVER, THE STUDS WILL TEND TO COLLECT MUD, GRASS AND OTHER DEBRIS, WHICH, OVER A PERIOD OF TIME WILL EFFECTIVELY REDUCE THE GRIPPING EFFECT AND AT THE SAME TIME INCREASE THE WEIGHT OF THE SHOE/BOOT, RESULTING IN A REDUCTION IN PERFORMANCE, AND INCREASE IN THE LIKELY FATIGUE THE WEARER THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A DEVICE THAT CO-OPERATES WITH A STUD TO RESIST THE ADHESION OF MUD, GRASS AND OTHER DEBRIS WHILST IN USE.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT INVENTION THERE IS PROVIDED IN ADDITION TO THE STUD, A SPRUNG PAD THAT CAN BE FITTED IN ASSOCIATION. THE SPRUNG PAD WILL ACT UPON THE STUD TO EJECT ANY BEDRIS AND DETER ANY BUILD UP OF ANY DEBRIS FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF SAID SHOES/BOOTS.
THE PRESENT INVENTION WILL NOT ONLY SERVE TO EJECT DEBRIS FORM THE FOOT WEAR, BUT WILL ALSO PROVIDE A SPRING / CUSHION EFFECT TO THE WEARER, THIS IN TURN WILL REDUCE THE DAMAGING EFFECT TO LIMBS AND BONES CAUSED THROUGH CONSTANT AND REPEATED EXERCISE.
SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS IN WHICH: FIGURE 1 SHOWS A CROSS SECTION DRAWING THROUGH THE STUD AND EJECTOR IN ITS FREE CONDITION.
FIGURE 2 SHOWS A CROSS SECTION DRAWING THROUGH THE STUD AND EJECTOR IN ITS COMPRESSED CONDITION. LE. WHEN STOOD ON.
FIGURE 3 SHOWS A VIEW OF THE UNDER SIDE OF A TYPICAL SPORTS SHOE IBOOT.
FIGURE 4 SHOWS A TYPICAL SIDE VIEW OF A SPORTS SHOE I BOOT.
REFERRING TO FIGURE 1.
THE ASSEMBLY CONSISTS OF 4 MAIN PARTS, ITEM 3 BASE MEMBER, ITEM 2 TOP MEMBER, ITEM 1 STUD AND ITEM 4 WHICH IS THE SPRUNG PORTION.
ITEM 12 BEING THE BASE OF A SHOE / BOOT.
THE STUD, ITEM 1 IS CYLINDRICAL IN SHAPE WITH A FLAT BASE rl WHICH HAS A THREADED STUD 10 PROTRUDING. THE THREADED STUDYING.
PORTION WILL SCREW INTO THE BASE OF SHOE/ BOOT 12 THAT HAS 4 SUITABLE THREADED HOLE PROVIDED.
THE STUD BODY 1 WILL GENERALLY HAVE SIDES THAT ARE PARALLEL 6 WITH THE END 9 HAVING A RADIUS WITH SLOPING ANGLED SIDES 8 TO FOR A POINT.
THE POINTED END 9 IS PROVIDED WITH SCULPTURED GROOVES 5 SPACED AROUND THE DIAMETER TO PROVIDE GRIP FOR TIGHTENING SAID STUD ON INSERTION TO THE SHOE/BOOT 12.
THE STUD SHOULD BE AS LIGHTWEIGHT AS POSSIBLE, WITH THE OUTER SURFACE BEING OF SUCH FINISH AS TO DISCOURAGE THE ADHESION OF DEBRIS. THIS COULD BE A NON STICK COATING SUCH AS P.T.F.E.
THE BASE PORTION 3 IS GENERALLY FLAT AND CYLINDRICAL IN SHAPE LIKE A WASHER THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER GENERALLY BEING THE SAME AS ITEM 2. IT HAS A CENTRAL HOLE WHICH IS A CLEARANCE FOR THREADED STUD 10.
ITEM 3 IS GENERALLY TRAPPED BETWEEN THE UNDERSIDE OF THE SHOE/BOOT 12 AND THE BOTTOM FACE OF THE STUD 11.
THERE MAY BE PROTRUSIONS 7 FORMED TO ENCOURAGE ADHESION OF FOAM 4.
ITEM 2 IS GENERALLY WASHER SHAPED WITH THE OUTER RIM 13 BEING ROUNDED TO FORM A SMOOTH SURFACE.
THE CENTRAL HOLE 14 SHOULD BE A CLEARANCE ON THE MAIN BODY OF THE STUD 6. THIS WILL ENABLE FREE MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN IN DIRECTION OF ARROWS A-k ITEM 2 AND 3 ARE SITUATED EITHER END OF THE SPRINGY PORTION ITEM 4. THIS SPRING PORTION COULD BE CONSTRUCTED OF CLOSED CELL POLYURETHANE FOAM OR SIMILAR MATERIAL THIS SPRINGY PORTION 4. IS TO BE BONDED TO FACES 15 AND 16 TO PROVIDE AN ASSEMBLED UNIT COMPRISING ITEMS 2,3 AND 4.
THE ADHESION BETWEEN ITEMS 2,3 AND 4 MY BE INCREASED BY THE INCLUSION OF PROTRUSIONS 7.
THE ASSEMBLED UNIT COMPRISING ITEMS 2,3 AND 41S HELD IN POSITION BY BEING CAPTIVATED BETWEEN ITEM 1 (THE STUD) AND ITEM 12 TIIE SHOE/BOOT.
THE SPRUNG PAD ITEM 4 MAY BE FORMED BY USING OTHER MATERIALS SUCH AS SPRING STEEL,PLATIC OR OTHER MATERIALS AND ARRAIGNMENTS OF TO EFFECT A SPRING CONDITION.
THE DEVICE MAY ALSO BE FIXED BY OTHER MEANS. LE. ADHESIVE.
THE SHAPE AND PROPORTIONS OF ITEMS 1,2 AND 3 MAY CHANGE DEPENDING THE BOOT/SHOE, WEARERS WEIGHT AND OPERATING CONDITIONS OF THE SPORTING ACTIVITY.
FEATURE 5 MAY ALTER DEPENDING ON FIXING REQUIREMENTS.
FIG. 1 SHOWS THE ASSEMBLY IN ITS FREE CONDITION.
