Abstract

A device for gripping a container comprises a rectangular or similarly shaped body 1 which has holes (2, figure 1) for fixing it to a wall and a rubberised strap fixed to one end of the body, the strap passing through a guide bar 4 at the same end of the body and a clip 5 at the other end of the body. The container is placed in a loop of the strap formed between the fixing point and the guide bar 4 and by turning the container anticlockwise, as while unscrewing a lid, the container will be brought into contact with the body and gripped by the strap.

Description

GRI P P ER FO:R JARS OR CONTAINEDRS This invention relates to a device for safely and securely holding the body of screw topped jars and containers There are several devices available to grip the lids of screw topped jars and containers but these still leave the problem of holding the body of said jars and containers According to the present invention there is provided a device comprising a rectangular shaped or similar body attached to which is a means of gripping the body of jars or containers A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows the front view Figure 2 shows the section A-A Figure 3 shows the section B-B Figure 4 shows the plan view with the rubberised strap Referring to the drawing the rectangular body 1 with fixing holes 2 has attached to one end a rubberised strap 3 at the same end is a guide roller 4 at the other end is a storage clip 5 In order to use this device it should be secured to a vertical surface by means of the holes 2 the end of the rubberised strap 3 is passed under the guide roller 4 to form a loop around a jar or container any excess strap can be held under the storage clip 5 by turning the jar or container anti-clockwise will bring it into contact with the body 1 if any excess strap is there it will be pinched between the two continuing to turn the top of the jar or container tightens the strap which because of the rubberised surface grips until the pressure exerted equals the force needed to unscrew the top. Once the top has been unscrewed the jar or container is removed and the strap stored by pulling it around the storage clip and tucking the end under the guide roller

  1. CLAIMS 1 A device comprising a rectangular shaped or similar body attached to which is a means of gripping the body of jars or containers
  2. 2 A device for safely and securely gripping the body of jars or containers as claimed in 1 to which is attached rubberised strap.
  3. 3 A device for safely and securely gripping the body of jars or containers. as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 which has a rubberised strap with can be formed into a loop by means of a guide roller or similar to hold jars or containers of various sizes
