Abstract

A removable soil support structure e is a piece of sheet-like rigid material, probably made of plastic or terracotta, to fit into a garden pot or planter. The device has a centrally placed finger hole b and a number of water drainage holes a. In use the device is held in position by gravity, being of a size which causes it to engage loosely with the internal walls of the pot c in a position which is between the top of the pot and the bottom of the pot. The device has the effect of limiting the effective volume of the pot and thus the quantity of compost d required to fill it to the rim of the pot. The device, which may be of any shape, to fit the shape of the pot, would generally be square or round.

! DESCRIPTION
A removable internal support for growing medium and plants, for use in garden planters.
When using large garden planters for growing small plants the planters suffer the disadvantage of needing an excessive amount of growing medium making them costly to fill, and heavy to move. My invention will considerably reduce the amount of growing medium required and therefore reduce the weight making them less expensive to fill and easier to handle.
The drawing enclosed shows a plan view of the support (FIG 1.e), with water drainage holes (FlG.1.a) and a finger hole (FIG 1.b).
FIG. 2 shows a three-quarter view of the support (FIG 2.e) with drainage holes (FIG 2.a) and finger hole (FIG 2.b).
FIG 3. shows a garden planter ( c) filled with growing medium (d) as is presently used.
FIG 4. shows my invention (e) in position in the garden planter ( c) with a minimum amount of growing medium (d) now required.

Claims (1)

  1. 2. CLAIMS
    The removable support as claimed will be a holder of growing medium and garden plants.
    The removable support will be of varying sizes and shapes but predominately square and round.
    The removable support will be made from a rigid material, most likely plastic or terracotta.
    The removable support will have water drainage holes and a finger hole for easy removal from the garden planter.
    The support will be held in place by gravity.
