Abstract

A concrete lawn edging stone having a bevelled edge 2 of sixty degrees on the lawn retaining side and an upper edge 1 of eight millimetres width. The device is manufactured of strong concrete and may be formed by compression into a mould.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
DESCRIPTION Concrete Lawn Edging Stone This invention relates to a concrete lawn edging stone.
Lawn edges suffer from damage caused by sagging, and the wear and tear from pedestrian traffic when accessing or mowing the lawn, also from erosion during wet weather.
The object of this invention is to protect lawn edges from the damage mentioned above while maintaining clean defined edges and to allow grass to grow within 8mm of the path, border, patio side of the edging stone.
The concrete lawn edging stone has a bevelled edge of 60 on the lawn side of the edging stone, leading up to the 8mm wide top of the edging stone.
Preferably, the edging stone should be made from a strong mix of sand, small gravel and cement to a 2: 2 : I ratio, mixed to a semi-dry consistency and compressed in a preshaped mould. Curved moulds could be used for circular lawns.
Fig. I shows concrete lawn edging stone front view.
Fig. 2 shows concrete lawn edging stone positioned in the ground, set in footing mix for permanency, but could be placed in firm soil.
Fig. 3 shows concrete lawn edging stone end view actual size.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
The dimensions for the concrete lawn edging stone as shown in Fig. 1/3 as A = 8mm,
B = 15cm, C = 5cm, D = 60cm and E = 8cm. The angle from 2 to I Fig. 2/3 is 60 , these dimensions make the concrete lawn edging stone a manageable size and weight.
Fig. 2/3 shows the concrete lawn edging stone positioned in the ground set in a footing mix for permanency 6. Soil is represented by 8. The angle of 600 between 2 and 1 allows soil 8 to be placed to within 8mm of the border, path, patio side of the edging stone 9. The border, path, patio is represented by 7.
Fig. 3/3 shows the concrete lawn edging stone end view actual size.
