Abstract
A flower pot holder includes a fixing surface 4 with a curved tension leg 3 and a horizontal compression leg 2. The flower pot top lip is placed between the tension leg 3 and the compression leg 2 and allowed to swing about its centre of gravity. The weight of the flower pot acts to stabilize itself in the hanger.
Description
This invention relates to a mounted Holder.
A typical example of use of the holder would be to support flower pots.
1.1 For many years both professional and amateur garden enthusiasts have propagated and displayed flora achievements for profit and pleasure. In most cases propagation and display has traditionally been in earthenware and latterly, plastic plant pots of varying sizes depending on the stage of growth and sizes and types of flora.
1.2 The display of potted plants is generally achieved by placing the pots on convenient shelves, window sills or simply on the floor or ground. Placement is normally chosen especially for plant view or where the enthusiast may deem the best available sunlight or shade may be obtained where space is minimal.
1.3 This invention provides the user with infinite and simple alternatives and enables otherwise unused spaces to be made available.
1.4 drawing No. XL/PM001 shows the holder in the correct orientation to support a flower pot or similar container where regular or removal or replacement may be required.
1.5 Drawing No. XUPM002 the holder shows in the correct orientation and with a pot or container in position and secure. The device may also be mounted inversely thus providing a convenient hook from which articles may be suspended.
1.6 This invention may be manufactured in plastic or any other suitable material, synthetic or processed, such as metal, wire, timber, ceramic etc and may be die-cast, formed or machined in any shape where its strength will utilise the principle of operation of this invention.
Technical 2. 1 This invention relates to a device which, when firmly fixed to any building, wall or structure, internally or externally, facilitates the supporting of a container or similar receptacle which, for example, may contain natural or synthetic botanical flora etc to enhance decorative surrounds. See Appendix A-Drawing No. XUPM001. The device dimensions may be varied to suit container sizes and weights and which are safe to handle.
2.2 The device Back Face (4) is affixed to any suitable upright structure by means of screws or bolts through Fixing Holes (1) with the Tension Arm (3) uppermost. To enable a container to be hung, the upper rim of the container (5)-see Appendix Drawing No.
XL/PM002-is simply placed between the Tension Ann (3) and the Compression Leg (2) as shown. The weight of the container or any other similar item may be supported utilising the principle of this device and its function outlined herein.
2.3 The operational principle may be explained as follows :
With the device fixed as described above, the container is offered to the device with the container's nm being passed between the Tension Arm (3) and the Compression Leg (2).
When positioned and the container allowed to swing about its centre of gravity, The inner and outer surfaces come into respective contact with the Tension Arm (3) and the
Compression Leg (2).
When released the centre of gravity of the container swing towards the device Back Face (4) and pivots about the Compression Leg (2) forcing the inner surface of the container to react against the Tension Arm (3) with an equal and opposite reaction in the direction towards the device Back Face (4) on the Compression Leg (2). The device designed strength as described in 1.1 ensures the container's safety, stability and its position maintained.
Claims (1)
- CLAIMS 3.1 A holding device in which terracotta clay flower pots may be suspended.3.2 A holder as claimed in 3.1 above where the holder provides a facility to support flower pots of various wall thicknesses 3.3 A holder as claimed in 3.2 above where the support can accept flower pots and be stable utilising its own mass to maintain its hanging position.3.4 A holder substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
