Abstract

235,517. Carborundum Co., (Assignees of Seymour, J. P.). June. 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Emery and sand cloth and paper.-Abrasive fabric is flexed by mechanically breaking the abrasive coating along lines at right-angles to each other. The fabric is unwound from a roll supported on a spindle 5 provided with a brake 9 for regulating the tension, and is wound on to a spindle 15. In the passage from the spindle 5 to the spindle 15, the fabric passes between guide rollers 10, 11, over and under an angularly set breaking-bar, under and over a similar bar 3 and between guide-rollers 12, 13. The bars 2, 3 produce a series of breaks 19, 20 in the abrasive coating, thus dividing this up into small squares 21.
