Abstract
A slatted tray comprises a series of slats B fitted inside a frame A having a fixed bottom C, wherein the tray is suitable for collecting water dripping from a person, particularly after bathing. The frame may comprise a groove (F, Fig. 4) along its lower edge so as to accommodate the bottom. Meanwhile, the slats may be fitted into a rebate (E, Fig. 4) formed in the top edge of the frame. The slats are preferably held in position by bearers D which may be fixed to the underside of each slat. The water collected may be disposed of by removing the slats and pouring the water therefrom.
Description
SPECIFICATION
The invention relates to a standing platform whilst drying off after a bath or shower.
When getting out of a shower or bath, water from the shower door and one's body drips onto the floor. With constant use, as with a family where every member may shower or bath at least once a day, the dripping water causes, wet and soggy carpets or mats, or lays on a varnished vinyl or tiled floor. With a carpeted floor, constant water penetration will ultimately cause damage to the floorboards and eventually the floor joist underneath. With a smooth floor covering as with vinyl or tiles and even varnished floorboards, water laying on top may cause slipping and falling, leading to possible injury.
Duck Boards may be used to prevent standing on a slippery or wet surface, but the water can still find its way through the gaps in between the slats and onto the floor below.
The main frame (A) incorporates a groove (F) set above bottom edge, this enables bottom (C) to be seated and sealed around the edge. At top edge of frame (A) a rebate (E) is formed with a chamfered bottom edge, enabling water to disperse into bottom tray. Slats (B) fits into rebate (E) with a clearance gap around perimeter and top surface of slat (B) being at same level as top of frame (A) when fitted together.
Slats (B) are held in position by bearers (D) which are fixed to underside of each slat, thus holding an equal distance between each slat. and forming a complete and separate unit. Slats (B) are of a sufficient thickness, so as to cater for the difference in weight of people without causing sagging.
The main features of the invention are that it provides a safe platform to dry off on and importantly that it collects the water, leaving the floor area below free from water.
The invention consists of a rectangular frame with a clear solid bottom, with an arrangement of removable slats fitting inside the main frame. When the slats are removed this enables the collected water to be disposed of.
Figure % shows an isometric view of the complete invention.

Figure 4/4 shows an enlarged cross section of the main frame a slat.
Claims (5)
