Abstract

A stretchable wheelbarrow cover (6) can be used for containing excess volume which otherwise would fall out of the container (2) The stretchable cover is stored in it's retractable position, inside a housing (3) which is detachable from the wheel barrow handles(5) by means of releasable fixings(4) The stretchable cover (6) can be pulled out and secured by the edge grip means(7) to the front edge (8) of the container(2).

Description

2341160 STRETCHABLE WHEELBARROW COVER This invention relates to a
stretchable wheelbarrow cover which includes a pull out cover with edge grips Wheelbarrows are rectangular containers which can be wheeled around by a single person. Balance is all important. Two long handles protrude from the back of the container under which there are two supports. There is one wheel at the front.
Often wheelbarrows are loaded up with more volume than in weight. Additional pieces can be attached to the sides increasing the interior but more often than not these are cumbersome and add weight, changing the balance of the vehicJe.
An object of this invention is to provide a fight, easily useable cover for wheelbarrows, which will enable one to transport much more volume without the frustration of spillage or the addition weight of side enlargers. The invention can be left on the wheelbarrow when not in use or if preferred, removed.
According to the present invention there is provided a wheel barrow cover comprising a housing, releasable securable to the handles of a wheel barrow, a flexible sheet, the flexible sheet having opposite edges with the edge grip means on the edge, a sprung roller mechanism within the housing to which one end of the flexible sheet is held, in which the other end of the flexible sheet, having the edge grip means, may be-p6116d 2 from the housing across the container of a wheel barrow so that the edge grip means may be releasable secured to a forward edge of the wheel barrow container, thus holding down excess materials that one wants to transport.
Preferably the cover will be made of a stretchable, waterproof material which will be housed in a plastic container. The edge grip means will be made of a strong, rust proof material, preferably plastic or from a combination of materials allowing maximum flexibility.
A preferred embodiment of the inventions will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 shows a side view of the wheelbarrow with the invention mounted on the handles. It is in it's retracted position.
Figure 2 shows the invention, prior to use, mounted on the handles of the wheelbarrow. Figure 3 shows the invention, in profile, in ifs extended form.
Figure 4 shows the invention from above in it's extended position.
3 As shown in Figure 1, the invention comprises a housing 3 made from a waterproof material, which contains a sprung- loaded stretchable cover 6 which can be pulled out to cover the container 2 of the wheelbarrow. The invention 3 is mounted on the handles 5 of the wheelbarrow and can be removed when desired by releasing the securable straps 4.
As shown in Figure 2, the housing 3 is attached to the handles of the wheelbarrow 5. The stretchable cover 6 with edge grip means 7 can be seen to be in it's retracted position, not unlike a roller blind.
As shown in Figure 3, the stretchable cover 6 is in it's extended portion, attached by edge grip means 7 to the lip of the barrow 8. The container 2 of the wheelbarrow is covered by the extendended stretchable cover 6.
As shown in Figure 4, the stretchable cover 6 is pulled out from the housing 3 and attached by edge grip means 7 to the lip of the wheelbarrow 8 covering the container 2. The housing 3 can be seen to be attached to the handles of the wheel barrow 5.
