Abstract

220,096. Schonfield, W. May 24, 1923. Valves actuated indirectly.-A gas ring is provided with a spring-controlled valve in the form of a sliding tube, operated by a cooking vessel, flat iron, or the like. A sleeve 1 carrying the valve, is screwed into the burner 2, and receives a spigot 3 to which the supply pipe is attached. The jet 6 has openings 8, and is pressed to the position shown by a spring 4 acting through a ball 5, so that no gas can pass. A member 10 is adjustably secured to a sliding rod 11 passing through the feet 12, 13, of the ring. The opposite end of the rod 11 is attached to a link 18 which is operated by a push rod 16 when a vessel or the like is placed on the ring. The tube 6 is thus pushed to the left, and gas is admitted through the hole 8. A by-pass passage 22 is provided.
